So, the debut was last night. Did anybody here watch it? If so what did you think?

The show may very well be great (I haven't seen it yet), but the idea is nothing new.
The observation of small details and drawing conclusions from that data was Sherlock Holmes' main technique as well (though of course he used other methods as well).
Interestingly enough - Psych and House, MD do essentially the same thing....

I saw one commercial and my first thought was that they ripped the concept from Psych.

I did actually get a chance to see part of it. Originally I had forgotten about it and came in about half way through. My perception was that it was laughably unrealistic and I turned it off . I was just curious if anyone who had seen the whole episode thought differently.

I do occasionally catch House or Psych. I find them both entertaining; I found the Mentalist annoying.

I watched it. It wasn't as good as I was hoping (for instance, they didn't really have mentalist tricks in use. I was hoping that it would really use a lot of the mentalist tricks, because I find them fascinating), and it was a little clumsy at times, but it was by no means terrible. Most of its problems will probably be fixed in the next few episodes.

I LOVED the pilot. I thought for a second that it was going to be the male version of Medium, but the lead character makes it clear from the start that he rejects any kind of supernaturalism. He is a young, handsome James Randi. If the quality of this first episode is maintained, this is going to be good.
(NB: With big shows like Heroes, Prison Break and any CSI completely running out of ideas, I'm always happy with solid new stuff to help me procrastinate!)
I've heard about Psych but never took the trouble to check it out. Is it very similar? More or less serious?

Either you got a mega, mega early prerelease, or you're talking about a different show entirely

I tried it watch Heroes yesterday and completely agree that they are
seriously running out of fresh ideas.
But I hope that wont happen with this show
