Your vote?

By the way, I heard Star Trek Nemesis wasn't that great. Anyone care to comment on the movie, if you watched it? All I was told was that Stuart Baird didn't do a good job and that the actors/actresses complained about him. I finished watching Star Trek TNG and the first two out of four films sequel to the TNG.

Picard, the best captain of the bunch (IMHO)!

I loved "The Next Generation."

Deep Space Nine was, by far, my favorite. Not only were the characters interesting and well thought out, but the whole epic story line was great. While I think Picard was a great captain, I think Sisko inches ahead of him by the time the series ends.

As for Nemisis...I think Shinzon was a very interesting bad guy. Unfortunately not enough time was spent developing his character or Picard's take on him. Too much of the movie was fluff and filler. Ultimately the script was weak and the acting could have been better for most of the cast.

TNG series had some of the best developed plotlines of any from the franchise.

First Duty, The Drumhead, Chain of Command, and The Tapesty are personal favorites.

I still think Best of Both Worlds was the best thiller to emerge from the franchise.

The loss of Gene Roddenberry from the development of the series seemed to have done it irreparable harm.

Loved Voyager! I watched TNG when I was about 5.... so I cannot honestly gauge how good of a show it was. All I know was that I liked Data and Wharf!

I'd have to go with TOS, the one that started it all. JT Kirk would have to be my favorite captain, and the one whose leadership style I would most identify with. I know TOS can appear cheesy, but hey, it was produced in the 1960s...

Oh, and Star Trek IV was my favorite film.

I would say that the Next Generation is superior as a series while the movies featuring the Original Series cast were usually better than TNG cast movies, with the notable exception of First Contact. Voyager and Deep Space Nine were also very good. But the theme song to Enterprise was so offensive and bewildering an irritant that the entire series was rendered completely unwatchable as a consequence. Alas...

I watched the original when it was on in prime time. It's hard for me to see anything else as comparable, though the science is clearly more interesting on TNG. And Voyager has FABULOUS theme music.

Despite my avatar I am a huge TNG fan. That’s not to say that I don’t like TOS. Spock is the man…er, the Vulcan.

Agreed. I enjoyed the movie but found myself wishing that it was longer for this exact reason. I think his character could have been taken further.

Anyways, I’m not the best judge because I’m totally biased. I’ve seen every TNG episode and movie and no matter how corny or underdeveloped they are I just do not care.

Grew up on the original couldn't get enough, loved the movies. I had a bad experience with "The Wrath of Khan" I had just returned from Japan so I wasn't aware of any spoilers for the movie, I went and was not ready for Spock's death it was a total surprise, Blue shirts never die! never. Only red shirts I was traumatized for a while, but I got over it.

I like Voyager as the new series and enjoy Enterprise for the prequal series. Loved them all.

Definitely Deep Space Nine.

I've watched DS9, VGR, & ENT from beginning to end, every episode. Also seen every episode of TNG. Haven't seen every TOS and have seen all the movies.

DS9 went the deepest, really explored their characters the most, and had the best overall storyline. TNG was too... naive. VGR, DS9 & ENT really pushed the envelope and made you consider what people are really capable of. Consider when Sisko lied, stole, and was an accessory to murder to drag the Romulans into the war against the Dominion. Or when Archer raided a friendly, relatively powerless ship to steal technology. Or when Janeway handed holodeck technology to the Hirogen to get them off her ship. These are not easy decisions, and the episodes really delved nicely into the moral dilemmas involved (ok, so Janeway's decision was examined in a later episode). TNG didn't come quite as close.

Strongly recommend watching DS9 from beginning to end. A little slow in the first season but well worth it by the end.

I agree to a point. I think DS9 indeed had the best overarching plotline and the whole wormhole/Dominion thing was fantastic. However those episodes down on bloody Bajor were like pulling teeth. Those religious Bajorians were just unbearable. Best thing for them would be a dozen Gem'Hadar.

I love Voyager. I skipped algebra classes in college to watch it at my grandmothers place :).

Voyager here as well, and I grew up with TOS.

it used to be TNG and Voyager and "deep space nine" used to be my least favorite, but then I really gave Deep Space Nine a chance and it's now my favorite television series, period.

I just love the diversity of the characters and the character development. Love how the characters interact with one another. Quark, Garak, Odo, and Gul Dukat are some of my favorite characters.

Seasons 4-7 are some great television.

One episode I really like is the end of the episode "waltz" where Dukat and Sisko express how they really feel.

TNG for the drama.

TOS for the comedy.

Yes, I also like the original. I have seen all the others including Enterprize, yet prefer the original. The show inspired kids everywhere to study science and engineering. I heard actor DeForest Kelly say he had received letters from fans who had gone to Medical School. I also listened to James Doohan lecture when I was in college, he was clearly an advocate of the space program.

I really dislike Enterprise. I just can't stand the characters as they are all so stodgy. I particularly dislike Archer.

My favourites are probably TOS and Voyager. However, I do like TNG and DS9.

What about people's favourite characters? I sometimes wonder what the ST dream team would look like.

I think it would be like this:

Captain: Picard
First officer: Spock
Doctor: The dude from Enterprise
Misc characters: Garak, Seven of Nine

You know, I think TNG added the most to the ST world, though. It introduced the holographic stuff, androids like Data, the Borg and other stuff I can't think of.

Although I did like TNG...I preferred Voyager/DS9 because they had an overarching storyline, which I really prefer in a series.

That isn't to say I think Janeway was the best Captain...Picard was definately the best.
