hi, yeah so I don't have photoshop or really anything other than basic Windows photo imaging whatevers and it's frustrating me and won't let me resize to non-prescribed parameters, so if one of you lovely somebodies would have the time to resize http://i135.photobucket.com/albums/q145/graciegirl001/frankie_wallpaper_02.jpg for me so I can use it as an avatar, it would be very much appreciated
thaanks

thank you, much appreciated. Thinkng about it, I didn't actually try cropping it, just resizing the image (the dimensions of which were never going to fit)..

You're welcome. By the way, I didn't use photoshop but the Gimp, wich is open software (resizing with window's built in programs is possible but doesn't give very beautiful results, since it is a program more useful for pixel art than working with an image).

You could also download Image Resizer, a part of Microsoft Power Toys from here (http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/Downloads/powertoys/Xppowertoys.mspx).
The download links are on the right hand side, image resizer is close to the bottom of the page.

so i use a program called infra-something (i'm getting exhausted, btw)... but any time i resize a pic, it will resize both the width and height, no matter what i do... and it seems i can't quit get it to 115x145
also, these many months, i have been trying to decide on an avy to have, moreso than one from the gallery... a more personal one...
and i was wondering if i could, perhaps, have help in having this resized... which would be greatly appreciated

IrfanView?
In Resize/Resample, uncheck "Preserve Aspect Ratio"
Lots of imaging programs have a similar option

I was playing around with an JTHM image earlier and had no success...but thats life. I'll have to look at it again when I have more time to spend on it. Unless there is a truly overproductive individual who would absolutely love to do nothing other than resize one for me. :flirt:

RESIZING THE IMAGE FOR AVATARS, FOR ALL OF YOU WHO HAVE PHOTOSHOP
from the menu IMAGE-image size
- tick ALL THE OPTIONS: Scale Styles, Constrain Proportions, Resample Image
- put 115 pixels as a value in the WIDTH field
- check how much it gives you as HEIGHT value
- give OK
from the palette: CUT TOOL
- cut the the height until it gives you exactly 145 pixels (it can be unnerving!)
go back to IMAGE-image size
- untick just the "resample image" option
- put 72 dpi as RESOLUTION value (pixel/inch)
- give OK
open the FILE menu- Save for Web
- click the little arrow at the right and slightly below the button DONE
- choose from window: Optimize to File Size
- put 20 K as value in the Desired File Size field
- give ok
- slightly under the arrow you already clicked, put 99% in the Quality field
- click SAVE
I know it sounds crazy and complicated, but it's not, and most of all... it works. ;)
