One of the things that upsets me most is when a trailer pretty much reveals all there is about a film. It's a totally disappoint for a movie goer.

I thought of starting this thread to ask you about what trailers you like or dislike.

This can be applicable to current and past. Heck, we can just keep reviewing trailers as they come out as little or as much as we what, of course.

....

I will kick things off by talking about two films that have caught my eye, the trailer for Blindness and the one for The Spirit.

Blindness had two trailers - a short and a long. The long definitely is much better than the short. The film has many things going for it (at least for me) the person helming the film did The City of God. Next, I like Julianne Moore. She is a pretty descent actress. I like the concept because it had a Children of Men feel to it. Yes, it's about an epidemic but it has more depth and to quote Robert Wilonsky it reminds us how close to chaos we are. The trailer doesn't suffer from fatigue and I still feel there is some mystery. The short trailer made the movie seem cheap and just another apocalyptic, virus-type movie.

The Spirit, well I like Frank Miller - he's interesting and kooky - I suppose also eclectic. The imagery (even if the trailer is rather lengthy) is sensual and visual enigmatic. It draws me and his chose of using Hybrid's Choke, a band I love dearly, adds a touch of class and a cherry on top to the mesmerizing visuals. I love the woman's face coming from the water.

The first full trailer for The Dark Knight will always be one of my favorites.

Then there was the trailer for Transformers, which showed just enough of the ground-breaking CGI to get me excited.

...But the trailer for No Country for Old Men tops them all.

I am sort of a horror movie aficionado. I don't know if anyone has heard but they have re-maked Friday The 13th. I love 80s slasher films. They are a bit tacky.

I suppose it is sadistic that I find it amusing seeing stupid people murdered on film -- I don't know why. I wouldn't want to see it happen in real life like that nutjob on the greyhound bus in Canada but on screen, it seems acceptable because it is an illusion, of course.

But really, back to the matter at hand. The trailer from SD Comic Con leaked on-line. You can't make out things well but it seems a lot of things might have been changed for this re-make. What bothers me is that its produced by Michael Bay. I just don't like that guy as an artistic force. He's a product placement overlord, and his storytelling is just unappealing. I mean Bumblebee is supposed to be a bug. *sniff*

The trailer doesn't look much and the replaced the guy that originally did Jason. :(

I totally agree with you on the DK trailer. That is some hot property. I still haven't gone to the theater. I generally don't like going anymore because of more children being brought to the theater and cellphones which people don't want to turn off.

Transformers - nothing for me.

No Country for Old Men... very very compelling.

Has anybody ever seen The Hunger with David Bowie and Catherine Deneuve?

The movie received a lot of critical attention because the lesbian scenes between Catherine and Susan Sarandon.

It's a vampire film but it has a David Lynch vibe though he didn't have a hand in it at all.

The trailer to be honest, unless you are interested in names, is not the most appealing sale of the movie. The video footage is frenzied and the reading off why what attributes the movie possesses I think rapes it of it's mysterious nature of immortality, time, living, fear, perversion, and sensuality.

It has two trailers though and the other one I think is more mysterious and appealing and features scenes of Bauhaus performing Bela Legosi's Dead. Peter Murphy is divine!

You be the judge.

The Machine Girl (To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 2 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.)
*Warning: Definitely not Kid Friendly*

Is there anyone else a fan of cheesy, trashy horror films? Sometimes I really wish I could know what was going on in the minds of the writers, etc that thought up the story and scenery for such epic, nauseous filmmaking.

Anyways, back to The Machine Girl...

... it s a revenge story which focuses on a Japanese schoolgirl out for revenge for the tortured death of her brother and the loss of a limb. But no worries ... her arm has now been replaced by a high powered machine gun.

I absolutely love In the Hall of the Mountain King (after the first song), so.. I don't know.. In the ways they worded the trailer-script it made me want to watch it.

That's the only one I can think that caught my attention recently.

The Machine Girl trailer made me laugh. But so did the Tripper's. xD
