When at a coffee shop with a plethora of hot drink choices, it's usually a chai tea latte.

(and no matter how hard I try to like it, green tea will always taste like silage.)

Green tea is winning!

I drink green tea. It's the only way I can psyche myself to drink enough. It has enough caffeine to be tempting, but not enough to have all the side effects of coffee.

My vote goes to "tea is good in all its forms", though my usual choices are rooibos vanilla, green tea and peppermint, only occasionally black tea. I add milk to all of the above, mostly.

Also tried japanese cherry tea the other day, tasted quite nice.:)

I do not live in a culture that is aware of the existence of any tea other than the very sugary iced variety.

I'm really trying to get into tea but it's an acquired taste... English breakfast with milk and honey is sooo good. I'm looking into different hand-blended teas on Etsy to see if anything catches my eye. I will act cultured, dammit.

Creamer = gross

I drink black tea with milk, as it should be drunk by any proper English person (PG Tips).

Although, I do also enjoy other teas (without milk):

Genmaicha

Earl Grey

and a number of blends from my two favourite tea places:
Mariage Frères - esp. Rouge Provence (a Rooibos tea)

Yumchaa - esp. Notting Hill (a black tea with flowers and fruit) and Regents Park (a Green Tea blend); also, their Earl Grey Blue Star is one of my favourite Earl Greys ever.

I voted black tea--plain, according to what I factually drink lately, but I'm also quite fond of green tea, except I can't get a good one cheaply, so it's not in my repertoire in recent memory. Actually the black tea I drink is a cheap tea bag brand, but surprisingly it is very tasty; on the other hand, green has to come in leaf, really.

i like arizona lemon tea. not too bitter or sweet with something approximating the taste of lemon. it's on the watery side, but easy to get cold.

i'm not much a fan of tea, but if i had to pick one, i'd actually say chamomile which isn't really a tea.

what is the name of that deep maroon fuzzy clustered bush that grows in the north east? it has maroon clusters with tiny seeds like grape clusters. if you boil those, you can get a nice and tangy tea that some filtering wouldn't be hurt by. if it's sassafrass or not, then that's a nice tea i could go for right now actually. more of a lemonade than a tea.

I drink a lot of tea. It is a good hobby of mine.

I was raised on British Empire teas, with milk and sugar, and still very much enjoy a good Assam or Keemun with a bit of milk and sugar. It is a calming drink for me.

I also love Senchas, because even the rather good ones are quite affordable, and the offer such a unique character. If I have the money, I prefer gyokuro.

For oolongs, I like milk oolong and the basic tai kwan yin. Both are pleasantly floral, without being perfumey, and they can be re-brewed many times, which is great for me, as a student.

Finally, my failures: Pu'erh. I cannot like it. I have tried. I have a lovely bing of it; can't drink it. It smells like fish and I cannot abide fish.

Hey, I just remembered. A favourite tea of mine is Guayaki brand Matte Chai Spice Tea. It is an organic brand and it's a heavy, very flavourful tea. You can actually use the teabag for 2 brews. In their documentation, the company claims that the whole process of producing the tea, having the plants act positively on the pollution in the air, harvesting it and transporting it actually reduces the footprint on the planet.

Marks and Spencer Fair Trade extra strong black tea, with a splash of milk. Or, any English or Irish Breakfast tea. Even though I'm 'Murican (Lipton's Orange Pekoe, yeecch), living in Dubai among all those Brits got me hooked.

Sweet tea - my preferred drink at all times. Other than that it's a good Earl Grey, Irish Breakfast and Brown Rice Green Tea.

I bought this one bag of tea in Peru that is simply the husks of the cocoa bean - you boil them and it makes this clear chocolate flavored tea. Add sugar and it's insanely good. Over ice it's sublime - like really high quality hot chocolate without the milk and all the flavor.

Another great tea is called Yogi Tea (not the brand) - it's like chai but has slightly different spices and you boil it loose and add milk and real maple syrup. Homemade Yogi Tea (To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 2 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.)

Market Spice (To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 2 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.) Cinnamon Orange tea is amazing tea as well.

It depends.
If I feel lazy or pressed for time, an off the shelf lemon tea bag in microwaved mug of water.
If I feel like working, then it is my own blend of tea. Mint, jasmine, cinnamon, cardamom, saffron with sugar to taste all have to be added in the right proportions and in the right sequence. It took many months to come up with this formula. These ingredients are non-negotiable. I call it my voodoo tea. :)

Yea but does it contain any actual tea? Tea comes from the tea plant, Camellia sinensis. There are many herbal infusions but they are not tea.

I also let the tea simmer on its own by placing the pot about half-way on the stove so just one side gets heated allowing the tea to churn naturally. Additionally, I also don't keep track of time - I let the tea scent waft to me on the sofa in determining when it is ready. I didn't want to add these details for they might be seen as obsessive. :)

Wait.. obsessive? Proudly so. :)

I regularly drink "Tie Guan Yin", which is a variety of Chinese oolong tea. On the odd occasion when I'm feeling rich, I would purchase "Gyokuro", a premium grade green tea (I highly recommend this if you like 'Green Tea'); best brewed using water of 60C/140F (if leaves discolour after brewing, the water is too hot).

Scented teas just rub me the wrong way.

As mentioned by Selene, there is an ideal temperature of water for different types of tea leaves. Though most people can't really be bothered :).

Do you need to have a special kind of tea to make tea with non-hot water? Because I tried it with Earl Grey (I think) and it seriously tasted like soap, it also had weird bubbles/foam on top. Thought it would be handy to use warm water instead of hot water because I always drink the when it is cooled of to warm tea.

I have a strong preference towards coffee with milk.

I generally drink black tea.

Sometimes I'm OK with green tea.

I also like rose/flower tea and stuff, but I rarely get to drink it.

I drink all my stuff sugarless, and I like lemon if I can bother to add it. Sometimes it's more "tea + cookies" and "coffee + pastries" for me, though.

I've become progressively fonder of earl gray recently.

I really only drink caffeinated black tea, but I wouldn't refuse an appealing green tea either.
I only drink hot tea, for some reason I just don't like it when it's cold.

Black tea, hot, with sugar and milk...Scottish Blend (because it's strong).

Coffee in the morning. Strong, black, unsweetened. Kona, Italian, or Colombian.

Two or three cups of green tea throughout the day. No caffeine after about 3:00 or 4:00.

In the evening, a cup or two of mint tea (not mint flavored tea, but "tea" made of mint with no actual tea leaves in it) or Celestial's Sleepytime blend (chamomile, mint, valerian). I don't like the taste of plain chamomile tea or most other blends incorporating it.

I like sweet iced tea or black tea occasionally, but I generally avoid it because of the high sugar.

I traveled in the Middle East in the past, and I really enjoyed the coffee and tea culture they have. Everywhere you go and everything you do is accompanied by a small cup of very sweet Turkish coffee or hot black tea.

I have been a coffee and tea drinker since I was 13. I love the sight, the smell, the touch, the taste of them, nearly everything, except cheap coffee or tea. Cheap coffee and tea makes my soul dark and I want to rampage.....well....just a little....

Anyway, all things coffee and tea are welcome here....
Don't drink coffee but like some of the artwork that has been made with it? Come on in.
Want to discuss why Earl Grey is the only drink for you? Discuss away.

Black coffee and black tea!

I love a dark roast as I sit on my porch smoking pure tobacco contemplating reality.

Sencha. The more bitter, the better. Because it is that bitterness that is so delicious.

I enjoy almost all teas. I go more for greens, whites, and oolongs.
Every tea is drunk plain, I find it disrespectful that so much is put into growing and creating the tea itself to dilute it's natural flavors with milk or sugar before even tasting it.
Plus I just like the flavor of my tea being just that, tea. :)

I have English tea with milk and honey every morning (hot), but some of my other favorites are chamomile, mint, and some kind of throat tea with licorice that I like. Green tea is okay, but I prefer mostly herbal teas.

Well now, that's interesting. " Tea is good in all its forms. " got a higher click through rate than "a combo of something above". Ad men take note.

I like black tea and earl grey tea. Sometimes with milk, and sometimes without milk. I picked "black tea, hot, plain" though, because I don't like sweetened hot tea and "creamer" and "milk" are two very different things.

Any tea, with the exception of those containing spearmint, loaded with sugar/honey and hot as I can stand it.
My sister says any tea with the exception of any mint and/or fruit/berry type. Little or no sugar and warm but not exceedingly hot.
