(I searched, but couldn't find a relative thread...)
In my experience, the names of many people I know seem to fit their type well. Even for me.
My name means "tower of strength"
Not to brag, but I think that fits an INTJ well, don't you? What with the God-complex-n-all lol
Another quick example would be my sister, an ESFP. Or as I like to call her: the doormat. Her name means "Hospitality"
Weird, huh?

My name means "consecrated to God". However, it's been popular with Queens...so I guess it's a powerful name of sorts.
Which name do you want?
My English name (Gloria - Latin for glorious... boring I know) is actually some stupid one I randomly picked off a TV show when I was 8-ish.
I wanted to change it (to Audrei - form of Audrey/Audrea - Old English for noble strength), but felt it was too bother some to get used to.
Given name I was born with:
Literally means "white spirit" but metaphorically it means "pure and intelligent" =/

"The Rose" was my title back in those days.
elsdfr
11-24-2007, 10:24 AM
"elsdfr" started off as being something easy to type for system usernames.
Then I started using it as a public handle and it kinda stuck along with the umpteen other ones I have.
So yeah it means nothing other than a personal joke as I find it funny when people try to pronounce it, if they do they have to say it like five times. Either that or they say "what kind of name is that?"... "Buy a vowel" is usually my response.
I pronounce is El'S'De'F'R and a friend says LSD'France ( shame I'm not one bit French huh, although I do do an awesome accent :D)

Ah! I like the way it sounds. Its brief but kinda sophisticated!
My first name is the feminine version of the name of the first martyr in the Bible. However, the meaning of it is "crowned one", so that, combined with my middle name was a secondary way for my parents to name me after Princess Diana. I took it quite personally when she died... There are so many opinions about her, but I suppose she was a bit of a martyr as well...
In that case...I have a lot to look forward to -laugh!

My name means "the plains" which is a bit of a mismatch, as given any choice of terrain, I'd take forest above all else.
It's a place name in Israel, and there is a certain irony to it, considering the center of my religion overlooks the plain in question.
Naturally, I put no stock in that coincidence.
It's also a name for a flowering shrub, which is something of a connection since I've been a avid gardener all my life.

My name, which just happens to describe me perfectly, means: eccentricity, weirdness, or craziness.
The term "gonzo" was first used to name the bizarre writing style of Hunter S. Thompson (Gonzo journalism). If you don't know who Hunter S. Thompson is then... Then you should slap yourself hard across the face, because he just happens to be the most AWESOME WRITER TO HAVE GRACED THIS EARTH!
Just in case you don't know he has written captivating novels/books such as "Hells Angles", and "Fear And Loathing In Las Vegas". As many of you may (and should ;)) know Fear And Loathing was made into a kick ass movie. The greatest movie of all time to be precise :lovestruck:. So if you didn't know, you've just been told!

Ash-tree meadow.
I like to say it means the life that can grow from fertil ash, after a fire renders a land barren.
Edit: I delved into the origins for the meanings of all 3 of my names, here's what I found.
First: mead of inspiration, ash tree, residue of fire, beautiful meadow.
Middle: innocent, valley.
Last: lord, Precipitation, Rain, frog, shelter, eminence.
All togather it suggests a forest or wood of some kind, compleatly nature involved in all 3. Strange, but I like it. Sounds peaceful.

Lol, I'm an actual Fleming.
My first name can apparently mean a lot of things: "it is a feminine form of the name Charles; though often interpreted as "woman" or "feminine," it might equally be interpreted as "masculine." Many texts reconcile these differences by defining it as "strong woman.""

I'd pick "Meadow of Inspiration", "Innocent" and "Shelter". Those make such an awesome mental picture...

First- man(ly), warrior, strong
Middle- twin
Last- "the rising or swelling ground that lies untilled; from bilge, rising or swelling, and leagh or ley, plain or pasture land"
Twin earth-golem warriors? A sword in a rock? Vikings? Abnormally hard soil? I don't know.

If you're interested in the story behind it, it's on wiki.

At least each character is equally difficult.
Look at it the other way though, complex names for complex people.

Strong woman it is...I like!
Oh yeah, that's sooo me lol :p

ALICIA
Pronounced: a-LEE-sya (Spanish), a-LEE-thya (Spanish), a-LIS-a (English), a-LIS-ya (English), a-LISH-a (English), a-LEE-sha (English)
Latinized form ALICE
ALICE
Short form of the Old French Adelais (see ADELAIDE) itself a short form of Adalheidis. This is the name of the heroine of Lewis Carroll's 'Alice's Adventures in Wonderland' and 'Through the Looking Glass'.
ADELAIDE
From the Germanic name Adalheidis which was composed of the elements adal "noble" and heid "kind, sort, type". This was the name of the wife of Otto the Great, and also the wife of King William IV of Britain. A city in Australia bears this name.
So, now that that goose chase is over...
Alicia: "noble, kind, sort, type"

I think mine means, "chosen by god" or something... kind of ambiguous, doesn't say what I was chosen for. I guess that conveys my real-life tendency to seem sort of mysterious at times (to E's, anyway).
I believe my display name conveys more about how I am than my real one.

First name - fair, white, smooth (Cornish) white wave (Welsh)
Middle name - lake (Welsh)
Last name - bold, free, noble (French origin? Hmm...) courageous (English)
I don't know much about my family history, but I'm surprised to find my surname connected to French origin since I've always been told my ancestors came to the US from the UK and Germany.

my First Name= William (very anglo-saxon), makes sense simply because my mom side of the family is steeped in Irish and Scots (though her mom was 3/4 cherokee, where my looks come from)
my Last Name= well, very Germanic Name (makes sense simply because my dad was the first generation American born after immigrating from Germany after WWII)
though i have searched my name online, my name centers mostly around Berlin. interesting though is that i also found a General der Pioniere of the Romanian Nazi Army sent to hold Crimean Peninsula in 1943. i don't know of any relation to him though, and probably never would

My name is from the Old Norse word for tree (raun or rogn) possibly derived from the proto-Germanic word raudnian or "getting red". I like the wiki mythology section on the rowan tree:
The European rowan (S. aucuparia) has a long tradition in European mythology and folklore. It was thought to be a magical tree and protection against malevolent beings.
