My highschool marching band starts practicing next week, so i was wondering if other INTJs are/were in marching band. We're doing a show with some Motown hits this year

Once when I was in Band Camp, opps that not for this thread.
Seriously, I hope you have a lot of fun in marching band, I always enjoyed it, our school was to small for a single band so we were bused to another school district and were allowed to join and form a band we competed and marched in parades and performed at sports functions, ah yes I remember that famous insult *Band Fag* so we would point out that when we bussed to an away game the jocks would ride boys only yet they allowed all the band members and cheer leaders, boys and girls to ride together on one bus, so which was more gay? The things we got up to...
So practice hard and enjoy your time, I hope you make many friends.

I began in band in fourth grade, and marched all the way through my Junior year in college. Played clarinet, flute, and Baritone Sax. Was also in stage band and concert band. Took up the piano about 13 years ago.
Band was wonderful. I still occassionaly play in small ensembles, or in show orchestra's.

Tuba and euphonium for me through high school. I wasn't really interested enough to pursue it in college.

I've played flute since I was in fifth grade. For high school marching band, I marched flute my freshman year, piccolo my sophomore year, and then joined the colorguard for my junior and senior to save my tone. I considered joining the marching band again in college, but I decided that I really didn't have the time. I really don't think anything can beat high school marching band, anyway. Band camp is one of the things I miss most about high school.

I am in marching band and we start practicing next week, too. If I wasn't in band, school would probably be unbearable.

Nope, my school didn't have one. We had a pep band, though, which meant that we sat around freezing our butts off in the bleachers during football games so we could play little ten-second things when some kind of point was scored. (And I had to borrow a crappy metal piccolo from the school so I didn't have to play my good one outside in the cold.)

School didn't offer one. My school had Orchestra (but really is a band...), Rock Band, Guitar Band and Jazz Band. I used to be a member of the school orchestra.

I marched drumline in both high school and college, with a little independent world WGI on the side. I also once caught an apple thrown at me while marching. Now I am restricted to meager jazz combos, playing for a mere pittance in questionable establishments, the glory days fading with the setting sun. I still don't know any of the rules to football.

All the band kids were such dorks and I never had interest in playing an instrument...tried cadets for about 2 sessions but was too anti-social at the time I guess. I'd be surprised if many INTJs like this sort of thing really.

Ha, I don't either. This is what a football game is to me:
Some football players stand around in the field. A whistle is blown and they run. A few players leave and others replace them. The crowd is more interested in watching the cheerleaders. Odd things happen in the band section (clarinets falling through bleachers, water fights, band cheers, etc.) We play when band etiquette says we can and when the football coach doesn't think we're distracting his team.
At halftime, we perform and then the above is repeated.

played flute in the marching band (so one time in band camp... I DID NOT DO IT) ~_^ in high school... that was already.... more than 7 years ago... 0_0;;; gave up after freshman year... i was in an academic magnet program, and it seriously hindered my studying time (having to practice at least 3 days every week for like 3, 4 hours and then having to march on competitions on weekends leaves no time for homework and projects, and we had a lot)... but i definitely enjoyed it back then...
marching band has the most drama i have ever encountered. i played clarinet and was the only guy. Boy oh boy... 10 girls all hitting their period at the same time each month is terrible. I can honestly say i dont miss it
