I currently dont have any beta tests that are ongoing at this point. After Exteel I haven't played a good beta game so maybe this would be a good idea for me.

Nope, I bought into AOC and blew 115 bucks on two copies (one for wife) only to be sorely dissappointed.
Warhammer looks like a weak WoW with an emphasis on PVP. Going to have to pass lest I regret another purchase :(
I have been in the beta que for that game for well over a year though. If they let me in and I like it I may change tunes.

The irony about WoW is that it was originally developed from the IP of Games Workshop Warhammer Fantasy Universe. Games Workshop is very protective of their IP and was unhappy with some of the changes that Blizzard was implementing so they pulled their support. Blizzard changed enough to legally slip the game in under the IP protection radar and said to Games Workshop "You got a problem with it? Sue us." Irony on top of irony is that another Blizzard blockbuster, Starcraft, was also based off of GW IP for Warhammer 40K. Again GW was pissed and again Blizzard said "Sue us."
Recently GW has had a series of parnerships that have seen their IP again introduced into the computer gaming world with RTS games based on both Warhammer 40K and Warhammer Fantasy. War is simply their latest and largest try at reclaiming some of the profit they lost from Blizzard taking their IP.
It's sort of sad that every MMO is held up against WoW. WoW (like almost evey Blizzard product) is very simplistic and formulaic. It took no risks and did nothing innovative, where Blizzard makes up for this lack of innovation is in the utter perfection of what they do. They might not do anything fancy, but what they do, they do very very well. Recent MMO's have challenged the WoW formula for an MMO (notably Guild Wars and the upcomming War) to some degree of sucess. I really hope War turns out to be something special and breaks WoW's thrall hold on the MMO community.

I just got invited into the Beta as well. I have no intention of buying the game, so i'll just end up playing it till the Beta is over.

No I am not interested in it, my computer is too slow any ways. The last beta I played was Call of Duty 4 on my 360.

Maybe if the game had come out in 2005 it would have had a shot. As it stands now though, it just looks like it popped out of a 2005 time capsule.

Very true. I have not kept up with War since my intial look at it several months ago. Even then I was unimpressed with the graphics/visual art they were using. I was interested in some the world interaction and quest system they were setting up but their graphics look dated and bland (though I'm not sure if this isn't simply since the game is not yet finished and full graphic design has not been implemented). In the end that is another thing that Blizzard just does very well, they are masters of appealing graphic design for their games.

I was interested, since it looked like that'd put a lot of thought into character content.
But latest news is that they've been forced to cut back a whole bunch of stuff to make the release date.
