Rock opera based on Megaman videogames. They're touring the Midwest currently, playing songs from a forthcoming sequel album. I'll be at one of their shows tomorrow night in Minneapolis. Seen them twice before--they go all out for their live performances, with facepaint and minor theatrical roles in addition to the raw, charged sounds from their music.

They're an obvious favorite for me, having grown up playing Megaman games in the late 80s/early 90s. I think their music extends beyond the gamer + music fan niche, but I haven't really heard much from folks who were introduced to the music before playing any of the games.

Ressurrecting the thread as these folks are having their second CD release show Friday in Nashville. I'm actually making the trip from northern Wisconsin. The album (Act II - The Father of Death) has been on Amazon and iTunes, and available to order a hard copy since the beginning of the month. It's much more story-focused, such that half the songs barely work outside the context of the larger concept . . . though a couple pieces also stand out much like numbers from their first album.

There are SOOOOOOOOOO many Mega Man/video-game bands if you know where to look.

The Advantage, "Flash Man" (To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 2 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.)
Sigma, "Intro Stage (Mega Man X)" (To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 2 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.)
8 Bit Instrumental, Beat The 8 Super Robots with 8 Bit Instrumental (entire MMII soundtrack) (To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 2 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.)
brentalfloss, a Youtube channel with a singer who's given lyrics to many Mega Man songs (To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 2 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.)

(and more.)

One thing I've got to give the Protomen though is that they don't just rip the notes off of the games like so many other bands do. I'd definitely see 'em if they came around.
