I came across this article while frequenting one of my favorite alternative health solution sites. It talks about the relationship between how healthy the grandmother is and her diet habits in relationship to the embryo of her daughter while its forming ovaries and eggs during her pregnancy. I always pay particular attention to these kinds of issues due to being a bit more more than a month premature and having had terrible health throughout childhood. Any thoughts on the subject?

That's certaintly interesting. If it's true I may be in some trouble, my grandmother isn't the healthiest of people and never really has been.

However, I don't think that it could have a huge impact on the grandchild's life, if the chromosomal defects were serious the embryo probably wouldn't survive. With prenatal vitamins and (hopefully) the grandchild itself eating properly health problems could be fought. Then again, I'm sure it has created some problems in some people's lives.

I think that is probably mostly true if they get proper nourishment. I think that we pass on our nutritional habits and the way we teach and nurture children to our children. If we don't give them a good physiological foundation from birth and we pass on poor nutritional habits then I would see problems forming rapidly. It is funny(as well as profound) how our actions today affect the future.

Interesting.

I knew the eggs were with the female from sometime in their mother's womb, so it seems logical that their mother would have an effect.

It's like females that smoke - while it's really dumb no matter which gender, for females they're also damaging the eggs so they can't conceive as easily and damaging the health of their child, even if they quit before they became pregnant.

Very true. I've had to become a health nut just to make up for the genes my parents gave me.

I too became health nut to make up for parents that fail and doctors that fail. I find out I have celiac disease in the process.

There's a book about gene therapy that mentions a study supporting this idea. The study involved the health of people born to parents during times of famine and low carb intake. The study then looked at opposite food conditions and carb intake. The study basically concluded the higher carb consuming parents passed a sensitivity to carbs and weight gain on to their children. I'm being general here but you get the idea.
