I'm psychotically fanatical about Metal Gear Solid, and have played them several times.
After completing Metal Gear Solid 4, I set it aside for a while (I don't play video games all THAT often)
But now I've started playing Metal Gear Online (MGO), the multiplayer component of MGS4
Does anyone else play?
my name is SaintLotus if anyone's willing to add me. I've only played it for two days now, but I've got the hang of it.
My stats so far are 395 kills, 181 deaths, for a 2.18 K/D ratio. It's a start.

I would, if I totally had a PS3. That game is amazing! you have a 3/1 death ratio. I can't say thats too bad. :)

No PS3 here either, maybe if it comes out on the Wii I will give it a shot. Although I did enjoy the GC one quite a lot, even if the storyline made no sense at all.

I've appealed to Metal Gear Solid games because of the complex, deep storylines behind them.
I'm actually very anxious to see what happens to Solid Snake (or Old Snake) but sadly don't have a PS3.
*sighs*

It seems many that would like a PS3 don't have one. Why is this? Is it the expense?
Admittedly, I don't own a PS3 either, but there is a PS3 in my house, because my friend lives in a very small apartment with no TV. The PS3 and MGS4 are technically his, and he uses it far more than I (he has a key to my house). For it being so available, I hardly play it.
But I can't get over how much I enjoy Metal Gear Online...

I have a PS3 and MGS4 (which was absolutely fantastic!), but I've never played an online game before. I'm also "psychotically fanatical about Metal Gear Solid." What do you have to do to play the game online? What do you need?

You must:
-Sign into the play station network (make an account if you have not)
-Go to MGO in the MGS4 screen
-It'll ask you to make a Konami ID and a game ID, you need to make those (pain in the ass)
-Then make your character
-then you can play
since its registering like 4 names, it's a bit of a bitch, but it's worth the effort :D

Okay, you're giving me too much credit. How do you connect a PS3 to the internet? I literally know nothing about online gaming.

Connecting the PS3 to the internet is really quite simple! There's only one step you need to follow:
1. Find someone nearby who knows how to connect the PS3 to the internet.
(I'll explain it to you if there is none)

Oh great! More MGS Fans here! =D
I freaking LOVE LOVE LOVE that Game. And I found #4 VERY awesome! ><
But actually I never tried it online. How often or much do you actually play, Saint? o.o

Not since August, I'm afraid. I'm back at college and don't have a PS3.
Though I'm still in 6000th place in the ladder.

Okay then let me ask "How often DID you play"? Like...Hour-wise every Week I mean?
I am kinda trying to find out how "Time-robbing" it is xD

Over the summer I'd play maybe ~10 hours a week, spread across 4 days or so.
I probably played more at first, trying to get good at it. Once I get good at video games though, I don't play too much unless I have friends playing too. Otherwise it's like playing solitaire or some other rote game, until this really incredible player comes along and makes you think/work in a way you haven't before.

*lol* Yeah I know how that is...first you play because it's new and a Challenge, then you do less...especially if no Friends are online...and then when Someone tries to steal your Highscore, you come back. xDDD
I love Games. *lol*
But thanks. Great to know. So I guess I could give it a Shot. But first I have to beat Devil may cry 4. Just started today so...could take a lil While. xD
I rented MGS4, I just had to play it. Well, I used to be quite the sniper but I don't play anymore, don't even remember my login. If I ever get around to getting a new ps3 controller, I might rent it again.

I've been playing. I find the story line ridiculous and tiresome though. It's the most emo game I've played in eons. I find myself ff a lot thru the cut scenes. I don't care about any of the characters. The work that went into the actual engine of this game is solid and worthwhile but the sustenance is lacking imho. I would not give this game the 10 it seems to be getting everywhere.

Oh, its a good game but it would not have been given a ten if most of everybody didn't slave through the first three games to get to this.

 You should get the MGS essentials box (which is #1-3) It would give you the story, and its only $30.
It really is an amazing game if you pay attention to it. It may be my favorite, if not right under Final Fantasy X.

we ended up just putting the game down when we got to preying mantis, neither of us cared.. I certainly don't care enough about any of the players put forward to go backwards and play past games. the writing is awful and emo. no thanks.
I hope something good comes out soon. I am looking forward to alpha prime.
I really want more ratchet adn clank though.

:nono: MGS4 is emo for a reason.
How about Final Fantasy XIII?
Final Fantasy always has a really good story.
And it isnt ususally emo.

final fantasy strikes me as very emo and even worse than that, very dull.

Why is it that a game needs to not be emo  ?
MGS4 and Final Fantasy both have good stories and imo are fun to play.
Ratchet and Clank doesnt really have much of a story.
So since story doesnt matter much to you how about Little Big Planet..
Its cute and i expect it to be good, and not emo.

I was gonna say something to the effect of Golbez. Whats wrong with a story being sad?
I desire some level of complexity to the storyline for single player games, and am not so concerned with the button pressing parts I suppose. (can't stand things like Ratchet and Clank, they seem to just be silly reflex games to me.)
