Hello and greetings. It feels strange to address a group of not exactly minded individuals, some of whom may nevertheless be ideal for me to know. I have recently discovered, at age 43, that I am an ENFP. While I have spent many years in the business world, I have always devoted a good 1/3 of my professional energies toward civil rights issues. It is just my natural passion, and I have pushed aside paying work to pursue unpaid representation of those unfortunate enough to have had justice spilled out into the dirt like so much refuse. During the past decade, I poured my soul into public interest work that ultimately bore fruit for many people, without remuneration, and in fact carrying with it no small measure of negative impact to my personal financial situation. I recall being asked by journalists time and again, what was the reason for my devotion to this cause? What was in it for me? I had no answer. I began to question whether there was some reason, unbenownst to me, that I had not fully understood. Now I know that it was just my nature, and nothing more sinister.
The reason I found this forum is simple - self interest. After my discovery of my type, I researched compatable types for love and relationships. I found that one of my dearest friends is an INTJ, and that it is rather a rare type. Realizing how difficult it is to come in to contact with others with INTJ personalities, I came here. I am hoping to get to know people in Portland, Oregon, where I live, and hopefully establish new friendships to learn about myself and the world around me.

You sound so... reasonable.
And, you are a person of principle who already has a legacy. We can probably learn a few things from you.
So, let's start with Slapjack...

Hmm, the negative, huh? Well, I did end up financially disadvantaged by choices I made. That seems to be an ENFP trait - pursuing matters of the heart without regard to the reality of the situation. I would not have been as successful in helping other people if I had been more realistic and logical about that all, but I would have kept some of my finances from destruction. There is a yin and yang in everything, and I am constantly in search of the balance in life. In another post I wrote that I started off rather introverted, and only grew extroverted in the past half of my life. I do like to go inwards for answers when I can remember to do so. I think we all have the capacity to learn and grow from our experiences and become more balanced. Hopefully, those INTJ / ENFP relationships can teach each party how to be a little more like their counterpart, and to become more balanced. That is my quest - to learn as much about myself and the world around me so that I can be a more balanced and rounded human being. We all have the capacity to be an I/E;S/J;F/T;J/P if we work hard enough.
