Where should this thread go?

No, not this thread, the thread I'm about to describe.

I'm going to play the part of a pedophile and invite people to ask questions about me and give their opinions based on my answers. It's difficult to know where to put this. I'm leaning towards General Sociology, but Philosophy and Spirituality makes sense from another perspective, as does General Psychology. I've even thought about Politics, History, and Current Events. Maybe it should just go in The Lounge.

What do you guys think? Where should it go?

The thread you described would probably fit best in either the General Sociology or General Psychology subforum. It really depends on the types of questions people will ask.

ACK! That's what's getting to me. It seems to fit in a couple categories. I can't decide so I'm gonna wait a few days and post it in whichever section gets the vote.

I voted for General Psychology, because I think it would be more interesting to examine what makes a sick creature like that tick. I think putting it in General Sociology would tend to lead the thread toward looking at a pedophile's role in society which, as far as I'm concerned, should be the role of prisoner. BTW, I'm one of those wierdos who thinks that pedophilia should be a capital offense.

You know, you could post a thread in both and examine the subject from both angles.

Presuming you're serious... I'd say General Sociology unless you are coming from a professional perspective then I'd say General Psychology.

I vote General Psychology. But remember that The Lounge is meant for topics that don't fit anywhere else, so when in doubt, that might be the default location.

But I'd say, post it here in The Lounge. It's a little bit too much like a game to go in a serious forum.

Isn't it a little pointless to start a whole thread asking where you should put another thread, though? Wouldn't it have been easier to just PM an admin? It's their call, anyway.

You should post it to Gen Psych (http://www.intjforum.com/forumdisplay.php?f=18) if you intend to explore the condition, to Poli / CE (http://www.intjforum.com/forumdisplay.php?f=15) or Philosophy (http://www.intjforum.com/forumdisplay.php?f=14) if you intend to play devil's advocate on the issues or the ethics, respectively, and to the Lounge (http://www.intjforum.com/forumdisplay.php?f=9) if you have no specific direction in mind (which is what it sounds like). Depending upon the sort of role playing you do, and what sort of responses it elicits, it may well be moved to the Lounge after the fact anyway.
