Test (To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 2 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.)

This one is interesting, I took it for the first time about more than a year ago and I liked it.
It's not that much of an IQ test, like the culture-fair ones. It just tests the taker's ability to recognize patterns.

Well, go ahead and give it a try. Then, come here and post your results.
As for me, the first time I took it, I scored 98%.
The last time I took it, I scored 99%.

I got 93rd percentile, which the dude says is "very high". Dunno about that, but whatever. XD

It was funny…on some of the questions, I knew exactly what the pattern was, and on others I totally guessed. On at least one I was sure I had the pattern figured out, but none of the multiple-choice answers matched what I thought it was. ><

I think those tests are crap. There are multiple patterns in most of the questions so the answers are subjective. :yuck:

That was nice!

No, they are not. Neither are they crap or subjective.
The multiple answers are somewhat scored like this:

correct answer:100
more logical, not correct:75
somewhat logical, not correct:50
less logical, not correct:25
wrong answer:0

There is an absolutely right answer, as well as an absolutely wrong answer.
It is not subjective, it just gives you some flexibility.
You just have to find the pattern, and choose the explicit answer.

Ah, that's cool! Partial credit ftw!

I got 93 too! :p I'll try doing that again later. Liked it a lot! :p

Your overall percentile is 96%

Tough one, 1-2 of them had me stumped for a bit as some pieces of the pattern simply refused to fit together in my head.

Your overall percentile is 41% which means you scored higher than 41% of the people who have taken this test. The internet population tends to be more intelligent so your percentile might be higher if the test taking sample was perfectly random. Keep in mind, taking this test more than once will render your percentile score inaccurate because the percentile score assumes these questions were fresh to the test taker.

What's really annoying is that I only got a percentile score. I wish I knew what percentage of the answers I got right. What good does it do me to know where I was relative to a number of people?

96th percentile. It's fun but as with all the tests from similarminds I'm not sure if it's a valid measure of anything.

By the way, does anybody know what the text means at the bottom of the comment box on the results page?

I started it, but after the third time I found a pattern that wasn't an option, I gave up.

Yeah, I want to know what the right answers were…

I also got a 93%, but I was rushed to head outside, so I only spent 9 minutes on it. Not that I think that spending more time on the test would improve my score. =P

Yes, if you examine the different choices carefully, you will spot easily the ones that are not part of the solution, and you will spot the ones which could be part of it.

Then some of them are more of a logical continuation of the pattern, while some others are less of a logical continuation. There is always one really correct answer however, as well as one answer which is totally wrong.

This one is a difference between this one and the culture-fair IQ tests. The latter do not have partial credit. You are either right or wrong. No grey area there.

I got 93 too! :p I'll try doing that again later. Liked it a lot! :p

Nice, >1 tries usually means bigger scores.

Your overall percentile is 96%

Tough one, 1-2 of them had me stumped for a bit as some pieces of the pattern simply refused to fit together in my head.

This is the magic! If you carefully look at them (and by carefully I mean to look at them for an adequate amount of time) you will see that the corrects are explicit, and the others are simply somewhat logical, with some being not logical at all.

What's really annoying is that I only got a percentile score. I wish I knew what percentage of the answers I got right. What good does it do me to know where I was relative to a number of people?

It is a point of comparison, the dude says that he will not give out the results of the test for the sake of keeping the integrity of it.

About the percentage you are talking about, if you take the test again, look at the comments in the result page (scroll down until you find a line with some strange things). The int-(x) means how many answers of yours were correct.

96th percentile. It's fun but as with all the tests from similarminds I'm not sure if it's a valid measure of anything.

It is a valid measure of comparison, it compares how you scored compared to how other people who took the test scored, as well as how many of your answers were correct.

By the way, does anybody know what the text means at the bottom of the comment box on the results page?

int-13, 2, 3, male, Version 1.06a 821 13

Yes, I have an idea.

The int-13 means how many answers you had correct. In your case, 13.
(In my case by the way, it is 15, meaning 15/15 correct, thus 99% final score, meaning I'm on the top 1% of the scorers who took this test)

The two next numbers have something to do with the score again I think.

The male represents your choice at the first screen, male-female.

The version represents the version of the current test.

The two last numbers have to do with the time it took you to do the test. 821/60=13,683 and the last 13 means this thing.

I started it, but after the third time I found a pattern that wasn't an option, I gave up.

It is most likely that the pattern you found was not correct. I also come up with my own patterns whenever I take similar tests and I think that my patterns are correct too, but then I look at the choices again and I finally see that the correct pattern is there, waiting for me to chose it.

Yeah, I want to know what the right answers were…

Find them out yourself! It is more funny and entertaining this way.

I also got a 93%, but I was rushed to head outside, so I only spent 9 minutes on it. Not that I think that spending more time on the test would improve my score. =P

I think that it would improve your score. For some reason the 20 minutes it gives are somewhat of a perfect time allowance to take this test. It usually took me like 15 minutes to do it (at first, now I remember the answers) and see my answers again, but the 20 minutes are an adequate time allowance in my opinion.

I see that you people generally have good skills when it comes to pattern recognition, thats nice!

I also do not recommend taking the test when you're mentally fatigued. The first time I took it was immediately after studying Biochem for about 6 hours. It took me about 3 1/2 minutes to finish and I scored 41% percentile. I took it a second time later that night after I'd had a chance to mentally recover from my studying and scored 96% percentile. I also thought about the answers longer (took about 15 minutes to finish although I probably spent about 10 of those minutes on two questions.)

I was mentally fatigued but it was because I haven't been thinking for a while, and I also haven't done these types of tests in a while.. I scored 93, nonetheless.

Same goes with any mental test, Frickles!

The final questions are clearly more difficult than the others. I remember that I spent most of my time at the final questions, with a ratio like 1:10. The difficulty is somewhat graduated.

People taking such tests must be in some "form" (well, their minds must be) in order to answer the questions as accurately as possible.

First try 87%
Second try 99%.

A few of the questions have two correct answers and it seems that the test only allows one of them as being correct, after selecting the alternatives during the second try.

I was disappointed that a couple of the questions were red herrings and were not really "patterns" per se.

got a 67 firt time, didnt gaved it a deep thought so I did it a second time and got 96 .. I don't like it that you could made assumptions based on how the choices looked like, I don't like this kindda tests, the solution would be to make you give the correct answer on your own not choosing it out of x different answers of which some are totally out of question.. but most of the tests I encountered are choices based so I'll have to live with that, but above all it was a pretty chalenging test, and as all N's (I guess) I like visual pattern tests

96%, in nine minutes. I should have gone back and fixed the two I guessed at, as they were clearly the wrong answers (int-13).

Did anyone else fill out the questions? I'd love to get a reply, but I'm sure the creator has received enough feedback already.

93.. I was msning and looking away every 15-20 seconds though. I wasn't aware questions got increasingly difficult so I thought I was on the ball until the last few questions came up lol. Last question I had to guess entirely due to time limit and the second last I had to educated guess, also because of time limit lol.

I got 93 and left with 5:47 on the clock. Pretty fun test, at first many appeared too difficult to answer but I hung with them and was able to sell myself on an answer.

96%, but taking the test at 2am probably accounts for the other 4% :P

I liked it. Thanks for posting.
