Why is it that one has to post twice on here to be able to see links and reply to threads?

A forum isn't a forum without posts. It's probably some sort of incentive to keep the forum active with new people and to help ease reserved users into becoming part of the community. I find the more I post the more I get out of the whole experience :cheesy:

It probably also safeguards against bots.

I believe it's because if you're forced to post twice, then there is some magical juju that happens and causes you to keep posting long after you reach two.

I'm feeling some uncanny impulse to respond.

I'm sure it's like punkyplatypus said about an incentive to post.

An INTJ questioning the policy of why one must have 2 posts in order to see links on an INTJ forum.

Irony? =)

Because the administrator decided that only community members who participate in the forum to some degree were deserving of that privilege.

Human bots?

:stunned:

Pretty clear-cut.

Well, it's not that much of a privilege to be able to view links, but, well, it's still some kind of a privilege. Neither are two replies going to mean that the uses who has post them is going to participate for sure, but two posts are still a participation, even in a small degree.

Personally however, I think that it was done to prevent bots, because a user (or bot) would be easily spotted if he/she/it just made two replies and logged in and viewed posts in a systematic way. It's a safety precaution, much like the Members Only and Picture Threads categories, to protect the users' posts by not allowing bots mainly and/or users with no intention of contributing to the forum, to view them.
