You guys probably already know the definition already, but for those that don't, here goes:
"Onomatopoeia ...is a word or a grouping of words that imitates the sound it is describing, suggesting its source object, such as 'click,' 'bunk', 'clang,' 'buzz,' 'bang,' or animal noises such as 'oink', 'slurp', or 'meow'. "To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 2 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.
I'm not sure when it first started to amuse me... Maybe it was comic books? (Or maybe I just thought onomatopoeia was a funny word in and of itself) ;).
Anyhow...so, my question is: Do you have a favorite onomatopoeia? Please share!
POW! SMACK! MOO!!!
