Doing simple things sometimes embarrass me, I can stand up and speak in public, I can direct groups, I can train. All these I do with out a problem, why then do I feel embarrassed doing simple things?

Today I went to the grocery store to use the Coin Star, this happens every few months when the jar I use for change gets full. I don't understand why this simple task embarrasses me, is it the noise? is it the thought that I project into others minds of what they must be thinking?

I don't know, but the upside is I cashed in enough coins for over three tanks of gas.

So is there any simple task that embarrasses you? Do you fear buying TP or other hygiene products? Maybe it's a guilty food or an adult beverage?

I used to be embarrassed to buy pads, so I would ask my dad or my brother to get them for me. Now I don't care who sees.

I take it you mean "lady parts products," as opposed to say, sporting goods, right? I'd be embarrassed to buy those, but I'm a dude, so I think it's somewhat (but not fully) justified.

I wouldn't say that "embarrassed" is the right word for my hang-up. I just don't like it when people know what I'm spending my money on, probably because I can sometimes take my desire for privacy pretty far down the path toward its neurotic extreme.

(Or maybe that does mean that I'm embarrassed. It depends on what you mean when you use the word.)

Yes. :tiny:

Hmmm... how about tentative? leery? guarded? slightly paranoid?

No, I don't get embarrassed by these things. But when I was 18 and working a summer job in the checkout of a deparment store, I remember a pretty, young woman who bought an enormous cucumber (and nothing else). She was blushing fiercely, for some reason. :)

I don't have a problem buying hygiene things. I remember standing in a queue to pay for condoms and this cute little teenage girl was in front of me and she blushed when she saw what I was holding. So I winked at her and she turned away so quickly she accidently bumped her mother almost over. It was funny.

When I started my current job I used to get embarrassed every time I got up to use the fax, which is in the reception area. It was almost like I was worried that I would forget how to use the machine or something. Never felt that way about anything else in the office, just the fax. That lasted about a year and then the receptionist was fired. I've been happily faxing things ever since.

I hear ya.

I hate paying for things with really small change, I feel so cheap!

I know the money has to go somewhere but I still feel cheap particularly when it's like a $2 product and I pull out 5c pieces! :embarassed:

I do sometimes. I've never really understood it. I can play guitar on stage or act in front of a crowd but silly little things, like eating in front of people, make me uneasy.
