I heard rumors that this board existed and decided to join. A quick Google search was all it took.

Anyway, I'm 27 and have been a graduate student for 5 years.

You want more? ask

Why the nickname "brewmaster"? You brew your own beer? I'm really into craft/microbrewed beers but have never tried to brew my own.

Yes, the reason is I brew, and often. I started my first year of grad school as something to do during the insanely cold MN winter, and to save money with my piss poor stipend. You can make it as complicated or as simple as you want and end up with a pretty good product. I have taken it to a ridiculous level, and I have to say that I would rather drink my beer than any commercial product out there. Although I still love the Am. craft brew scene.

I brew mainly Am. IPAs, Am. Pales, and then the rest are all Belgian 'styles.'

Molecular genetics of pathogen interactions with a major cereal crop. I will be taking my prelims soon, which should be a blast.
