... female INTJs apparently! No wonder I'm excited when I find 'people like me'!
Have been reading about MBTI for ages and it does help me make sense of the world. Then today I went for a proper test and discussion... and came out borderline ENTJ! Freak out! But we decided for INTJ as I am definitely Sensate-shadowed... (One year on and my washing machine still isn't mended! I am trying!)
Anyway, my aim is to suss out what to do about my career. Academic and music theorist are well-starred, I just can't bear writing wittery, people-impressing articles/essays, and would rather problem-solve in the university people structure and pull order out of spreadsheets. But this doesn't get you promotion, apparently, and I still need to publish 4 scholarly items in short order. Should I jump ship, or is there a way to twist it around to suit me? Where to find the approval for my competence that I can't deny I (typically for the type) need?
Well, thanks for listening! X

Welcome.

I'm not 100% sure I understand your question. Please correct me if I get this wrong. It sounds like you work for or attend a university and aren't sure if you want to pursue a scholarly route requiring the submission of academic papers or if you take on a more administrative role. Where does music theory fit in this? Without more information I'm afraid our responses will be unhelpful.

Still, I'm going to take a stab at a response based on my limited understanding of your situation. I guess the question is how important is promotion to you? If you don't need the money and you would be happier without the requirements of that job then don't bother. Of course, if you need a promotion to make ends meet then the choice should be readily apparent.

Should I jump ship

What are your other options?
