People always ask me why I don't smile. It's irritating. I usually say "I am laughing inside." *That's true; I just refrain from revealing the whole truth, i.e., that I am laughing at them. Am I too polite?

Hi. Welcome to the forum. We won't see your face so you're all set.

yes you are too polite. You should reveal your true nature and stone them next time they ask.

Stoning is hard work, or so I hear.
Really, just kidding. I don't laugh at others inside or out; just bemused by my fellows and fellowettes.
Figured I'd write something in a "Dear Ann" motif to get started.
I took the MB tests years ago, but don't remember how I scored. I was totally antagonistic to group mentality (psychology) at the time, and dismissed it all as a parlor game. Now that I am older and more receptive to stuff, I find the categories interesting and the personality description in my case so, so accurate.
I guess I take solace that I am part of, if *I understand correctly, a very small % of the populace.
So I am unique; just like you guys!
I work in a large law firm writing letters to insurance companies as to whether they must provide liability coverage to an insured based mostly on the allegations of the complaint lodged against the insured. I am objective in this endeavor and if the insurer has to provide a defense and maybe indemnity, I tell them so. But, if I can find a legal way out of providing coverage, well, that makes my day.
The work is quite theoretical, complex and fact-driven. It takes so long to explain my rationale that no one (I mean my colleagues) has time or much interest in my take on a given case. So, I work alone. That's OK, but even though I am an INTJ sometimes I would like to get some feedback. But I read my opinion letters weeks later and my clients do pay me. So, that's some feedback.
Anyway, I am glad I found this place. I knew I always perceived things differently than almost everybody, but I have been around long enough to know I was not alone. In my time here (on Earth), I have probably met five or six INTJs (Like obscenity, you know it when you see it.). This site confirms that notion that I am not alone.
BTW, last week, I asked my secretary if she had ever taken the Briggs test. She said "no." I said take it, but before you do I will predict the results. She took it then looked at my prediction. *I was right. She is an ENFP. It was too easy.
I look forward to getting to know you guys.

Trust me, the first time knowing as an INTJ. I did the same things, as you mentioned. Its all mumbo-jumbo, until I found out we are one unique trait.

Actually, today talking with someone. I can't put my finger on it, but not sure if he is an INTJ or INFJ [my guess is toward this direction]. Because when, we are in the conversation, for some odd reason. We kinda said the same answer at the exact moment, finished each other sentences, WTF. So, dude have you ever heard of the Myer-briggs personality test because for some reason our thinking pattern is on the same wavelength. Plus, he did mention that in most cases would not reveal his inner thoughts before and felt that being someone who is very unique can be lonelisome because no one can be easily to understand you. I said, "Dude, luckily you meet me, hope you continue on toward your mission in life." For any reason, we will meet again :)

Oh, I don't know  stoning isn't so hard. It's finding the proper size and weight that takes time! ;D

Anyway, your job sounds interesting. I'm sure you'll find us an easy group to get along with.
