I'm not into the outdoors anymore they seem to be to crowded. When I was younger I enjoyed camping and hiking but now it seems every where I go someone has left piles of trash and somehow that blows it for me, I used to try and clean it up but it just became to much for one person.

What a fantastic idea for a thread! I love the outdoors so much, I got a college degree in playing in it (no, I'm serious). Anyways, I love running, rock climbing, kayaking, canoeing, swimming, camping, hiking, outdoor meditation, and backpacking.
I've recently discovered that I enjoy camping, hiking, climbing on rocks, exploring, kayaking. I've always hated fishing, it's just so boring.

When I say fishing, I envision going to some beautiful place with great views, miles, miles, and miles away from civilization (and people). For example, fishing for salmon in Alaska. It's great for stress and lowering blood pressure. What's to hate about that?

Well if I was able to catch fish on a fairly regular basis, I'm sure I would enjoy fishing. It's just the sitting and waiting for something to happen. It drives me up the walls, if the outdoors had walls. I would find exploring the woods of Alaska more enjoyable.

Walking/Tramping in the bush. Staring into the distance on deserted beaches, contemplating. Taking in the silence of a forest, and analysing the few sounds I can hear, amidst that awesome stillness. Watching the vortices and eddies in slow moving streams and rivers. Damaging my neck at night, by staring upwards at the stars for far too long. Ok not much exercise in those things, but getting to suitable locations to do them, is the healthy bit I guess...

The usual activities don't do much for me: camping, fishing, hunting, hiking, rock climbing, etc.
But I love to take my telescope out under a beautiful jet-black sky. For our 30th wedding anniversary, my wife and I went up into the Chilean Andes, where we used an 18-inch scope under mag7 skies. Astonishing!

horse riding, tennis, frisbee, jogging on a nice day, hiking, collecting rocks, shells, stargazing, just being around horses, being outdoors. I love the outdoors, especially nice, sunny days.

Just about anything outside I enjoy. Hunting, fishing, hiking, getting lost, wandering, floating through the air (skydiving), kayaking, just sitting on top of a hill watching animals, riding the motorcycle in the middle of nowhere. My favorite memories though have been taking a nap in the middle of nowhere - 2 in particular. 1 while I was turkey hunting, I was so tired that I just curled up under a tree and fell asleep. I was awakened by birds chirping in a tree next to me that seemed so loud, they didn't no I was there - they were so loud and yet peaceful all at the same time. The other was in a spot I will never forget - I hope to return there some day. There was an old rotted log, the wind was blowing cold that day and I just curled up in a nest of bark next to that log, laid on the bark that had fallen off onto the ground, just out of the wind and I slept like a baby in the middle of nowhere listening to the wind blow through the trees. It was so relaxing. My best outdoor memories are naps in the middle of freakin' nowhere, peaceful, solemn, nowhere.

I used to love being outside when I was a kid and lived in the countryside but when I moved to the city, I have done less things outdoors. I do like fishing as I did that a lot as a child. I liked to hike. I am too much of a wuss to skydive or kayak. Hunting, I don't like guns so I would only do it with archery. I used to be quite skilled when I was young. However, I won't hunt for sport so I don't do that. Birdwatching and people watching. But the best sport would be assigning myself under a tree and read.

I enjoy camping a great deal. My skin isn't good in the sun, so camping works out pretty well. Something about being in the middle of the pitch-black woods in the middle of the night with a cigar, some some cold beer and bratwursts, enjoying the company and conversation of friends whilst listening to the crackle of the fire.

i grew up for years without electricity or running water in the woods, out in the middle of no where
learned a lot about living off the land; fishing, hunting, hiking, being resourceful, bathing in creeks and streams
and enjoying every minute of it
thos were the best years of my life, and i've learned to be a natural survivalist because of it

I love the outdoors. Just came back from a weekend away in the mountains at a dive site. Wonderful, I enjoy hiking, camping, abseiling, canoeing, swimming, rowing and quietly observing animals in their own habitat.
