I have recently rediscovered Pink Floyd. I could never appreciate such things as a teenager, but now I am floored.

Which one is Pink anyway? ;)
David Gilmour is a great guitarist. I really got burned out of their stuff in college due to overexposure from having their tunes blared out of every dorm room on campus.

I absolutely LOVE Pink Floyd! I think Dark Side of the Moon is one of the greatest albums ever written.

That's too bad... I would hate to have the magic spoiled like that. Though... the fact that your classmates enjoyed Pink Floyd is saying something. My classmates enjoy things I cannot comprehend, for its sheer stupidity.
But yes Gilmour is astounding! He just SOARS. There is so much emotion in his solos, so much expression.

I agree. I have been close to tears several times from that album. I can only imagine what would happen if I listened to the whole thing in one sitting.

This.
Yeah, every pothead on campus played them over and over and over and over. And a lot of non-potheads too. A really talented band that was just ruined for me by overexposure.

I love Pink Floyd. But not like a lot of others, my favorite album isn't Dark Side of the Moon... It has to be The Division Bell.

Pink Floyd was one of my staple foods back in the 80s. David Gilmour is certainly one of my favorite guitarists. His style was so unique and powerful.
Time was my all time favorite of their songs.

Not one of the greatest albums. It is THE greatest album ever written.

Can't go wrong with Floyd. I like the idea of going back and reviewing bands from the past that you may have overlooked. Now that music is essentially free (whether you think that's good or bad) it does make listening to stuff you thought was marginal much easier. And I'm not saying Pink Floyd is "marginal"!!!
My first year roommate always listened to Stevie Ray Vaughn - which I assumed was crap, but now I'm thinking I should give Stevie a second listen...

Also check out Floyd guitarists David Gilmour's solo album On An Island from 2006. Best solo album from a Floyd member and a better album than some Floyd stuff!

Pink Floyd - Live at Pompeii, changed me forever. If you are a Pink Floyd fan and you haven't saw it, drop everything and go watch it.

And such a difficult sound to imitate (there was only one Pink Floyd); but check out these two songs, they always sounded Floydish to me:

A great band but why did they have to have two 10-minute versions of 'Shine on You Crazy Diamond' on the same album ?

Great band for a few albums anyways, with Animals being my favorite and one of my favorite albums of all time.
