Just out of curiousity, what are your coping strategies to energize yourself? Mine are:
Being with INTJ's - ie: sarcasm, directness, saying what's in your head
Laughter
Physical exercise
Reading
Willpower.

Food is generally what works for most humans so that tends to be what I stick with.
I like taking solitary walks and drawing. It brings all my senses to it's peak, and therefore gives me an impression of having more energy.

is this more specifically what motivates us? recharges us? and gives us purpose?

Physical exercise – running, PowerCore or just some simple arm/shoulder exercises with barbells.
Music – playing something on the piano or the guitar (I do it very badly, but it doesn't matter).
Crossword puzzles and sudoku. I solve the sudoku in the local paper every morning, and it wakes up my brain and gets it ready for work. :)

Good weather, sports (put a basketball in my hands and I'll perk right up), people, cold showers, and loud music.

-Getting ready to do something adventurous
-Sunny weather
-Animals
Mostly it's just being outside.... Indoors I feel compelled to use my indoor voice, and to at least exhibit caution when running/jumping/practicing martial arts moves I saw on TV, etc. If I'm outside and it's sunny and I'm with my brothers, I just get the urge to go run around the yard. The sunny part is needed for brightness, which makes me happy, as opposed to darkness, which depresses me. The brothers are needed because they're the only people I don't feel stupid being myself around.
That's all for excessive physical energy/excitement. For every day stuff.... I don't really energize myself. Most of my day is me looking up things on the internet until I realize how long I've procrastinated, and then I do my work.
EDIT: Oh, I lied. There's one thing I do every morning, which is listening to loud music (and in response, singing very loudly) in my car before going to school. Music (that I listen to) on a scale of least energizing to most energizing:
Asian hip-hop
Asian pop
Rock (all varieties)
Techno
The Pokemon theme song

Getting up early and having a coffee alone, before anyone else is awake.
Spending time outdoors, anything with nature, the stars, the sun, trees, water, animals
Doing dishes (I resent the fact that I try to do them all the time because I don't think anyone else does a good job cleaning them, but I do feel refreshed when I'm done)
Hot showers and a shave.

Watching the movie Crank, shaving my head, running up some stair two at a time, slapping my face on purpose, stubbing my toe, watching fauxnews...all these things tend to fill me with energy.

I used to drink energy drinks but somebody told me Taurine (a main ingredient of energy drinks) meant bull pee. So I went on dictionary.comshortly thereafter and found taurine meant adjective: 1. of or relating to or resembling a bull noun: 1. a colorless crystalline substance obtained from the bile of mammals. That kind of took away my weapon of choice, so probably Mountain Dew. All healthy options I suppose.

Sleep
Same here
Sleep sounds so awesome right
Another thing that works is buying a new toy "Sweet! I got a new game!", "OH YEAH! new chip to overclock!" or best of all "YES, new high comp piston set!"...

For the last few years, not much, unfortunately. Music's about all that energizes me. Apathy sucks :(

The taurine in your energy drink is a synthetic product. it's an essential amino acid.

Listening to death metal and talking to people I work with are what really keeps me going during the day. I love finding out new things about them and being able to connect with them more, though it can be pretty hard to actually do it sometimes since I can be very shy, or I just get too caught up in what I'm doing at the time to think of it.
