so, i have noticed an explosion of old threads that have sprung up. and here i am, thinking that i have missed some of these when they show pages and pages long (i read almost every thread here, btw)
well, for me, i count that as a very, very good sign. means there is stimulating and worthwhile topics
i just wanted to comment on it cause i also look at the dates on them

I commend you for reading so many posts. If the title does not attract me, you wont find me reading it. I am also tempted to post on threads that have under 30 posts. I dont really know why, i feel like its cleaner and easier to keep up with. I actually only clicked on this because there were no posts ;D

There are a ton of good threads and I want to have a say in most of them even if it's minor. I normally just press new posts and go from there but when there is nothing new I go through a forum and search for interesting threads. Nice forums here :)

I thought this as well. I've read most of the threads here too, and this is GREAT forum. In time, I wonder if Jez can find a different way to catagorize the threads in a manner which would make the older ones a bit more visable.

the ones that get to me though, are the ones that are resurrected
and they start out "I pity myself, therefore you should pity me too"
i know it's a bit harsh, but i am really interested in interesting topics that may have somehow fell through the cracks and was lost among other threads
its just these 'pity' ones that come up that kinda drive me up the wall
i think i have come to realize it from the other prospective though
on other forums, i had started flames, trolling, and hijacked threads... it was the worse time in my life, a very, very bad spot i was in... and even after i came out of that 2 year depression, it was hard to regain any respect there... and even now, i am looked at nothing more than just trouble with a capital T...
i realized though, after all that time, that a forum is a community with a set of rules... and in such a community, certain respect for individuals is required... especially since you don't know who it is you are attacking, except maybe by usrname...
after that time on that forum, i decided for everyone's benefit that i leave... and i left... i wasn't banned as it was an unmoderated forum... and because of such, i still stop by and check every now and again... i just don't post anymore... there will come a time that i will stop altogether though... i just haven't reached that point...
but because of that time, because of what i had learned, because i came to know myself much more than i ever used to... i used that knowledge, that education in forum conduct and protocol, and the eternal bliss of proper etiquette and joined at least 8 other forums (concerning different matters of course... and no, i will not mention nor post them) and just treat everyone as kindly as i have been welcomed...
*sigh*
sorry, i'm just bearing my soul right now...

This thread got me wondering about the etiquitte regarding re-opening old threads. Being new I don't want to make too many waves but some of the old topics seem interesting to me. I admit I'm a little reluctant to resurrect them but it seems like there are many more 'new' members who might also like to weigh in on some of these old topics. I assume it would be better to raise from the ashes an old thread than to start a new one on an identical or similar topic.
How did I find some of the old threads you might ask. Well I admit it. I've been stalking all of you. If I find someone's posts interesting I go look where else they've been posting and in some cases I've gone back pages and pages and found interesting old threads. This seems to me a very efficient way of finding interesting threads instead of just going by the titles, I get a better sense of the topic by whichever posters comments I'm jumping to the thread from.
So help me out here, is it acceptable to reinvigorate an old thread (say a month or more where no one has posted) or should I just post a new thread?

I wish more people would do as you have and check before they start a new thread. So I say bring back as many as you like it gives the newbies a chance to add their opinion and it gives the oldies a chance to post after their comments again.

A few of the bumped old threads just leaves me scratching my head like the "Are you afraid of me(ShaiGar)" thread.
