Does anyone else get incredibly frustrated when people give reminders which are really obvious?
My parents have always done this and it simply frustrates the hell out of me. Somethings are just "duh!"
Anyone else share this trait?
I learn to appreciate them for it, since it does save my skin sometimes.

When it's from parents not so much, but if it's from co-workers reminding me of something then yes I get a little frustrated. If it's important I would have already put it down in my day planner or somewhere else.

When people start doing that to me, I start reminding them to remind me.
And I do it every half-hour or so.
They usually get the hint after the third time.(Thats when it begins to really get to them).
AH, the bliss of payback:)

That's funny.
I usually appreciate the reminders, because I can use 'em. If not, I shrug 'em off. Except when my mom does it. Then it just annoys.

yeah, that's my take on it too. It can grate the wrong way but at the same time, it's meant well and it can be useful at times.
I used to get annoyed at my dad, who would give me reminders of the most mundane daily things... homework, shoes, wallet, keys, etc
Now, I have all that stuff ingrained into my head, and I remind other people about that sort of thing. So, it's a useful habit to have, but a pain in the ass regardless.

Well, depends. I usually just shrug it off--unless it was something I really needed to be reminded of.
If I'm reminded 24/7 of something, then I get pissed. And that happens a lot, especially coming from my dad.

It used to annoy me. However, now that I'm an old man with LOTS of things going on, I've come to really appreciate the reminders... I would miss most of my meetings without them.

Do you mean reminders like, "Drive safely," or "Don't forget your brother's birthday is coming up"?
The former amuses me because I always think of the alternative. Yeah, mom, I'm gonna pop wheelies down I 95. The latter I appreciate because I forget stuff.
Reminders don't bother me nearly as much as people trying to control me. That I cannot stand, especially when it's passive aggressive.

Yes.
But they are useful sometimes.

*begin rant*
I don't mind being reminded of something, it's when they remind me of the same thing over and over again. What bothers me is when they use those reminders to try and force their schedule on me. Or even worse when I have actually done the thing they reminded me to do and I'm waiting on other people. It's one thing to impose your schedule on me and expect results, but to impose it on the rest of the world is pushing it.
*end rant*
I'm in the middle of a summer job search and my parents have been on my back non stop...

I find that people ask me to remind them of something because I never forget about something that needs to be done. Sometimes though if the other person forgets I'll try and remind them in subtle ways so they can remember for themselves.
