So, what are some of your favorite TV shows? I had a phase where I was pretty obsessed with television, and ended up watching upwards of 30 different shows, half of which in their entirety.

Some of my favorites:
House (House must be an INTJ)
Scrubs
The Office
Lost
Battestar Galactica (re-imagining)
Firefly
Farscape
Dexter (he's very similar to INTJ)

There are others, but I'll stop there. This thread doesn't have to be strictly superficial. I'd love to hear your thoughts on characters in your favorite shows and different concepts portrayed in them. Also, I'd like to compile a list of INTJs from television and cinema, so you can help contribute to that.

My DVR list is simple:

Doctor Who (The new stuff)
Psych I enjoy Shawn
Reaper
Bones
Torchwood
House

Thats usually enough for me to watch when I'm home.

I watch my TV online. ;D

Currently watching:
Lost
Ugly Betty
Samantha Who?
Men in Trees
Women's Murder Club (They finally put it online! Though they've only put up the last two shows so far, which stinks.)
Scrubs

Awaiting the return of:
Pushing Daisies
Chuck
Heroes
Bionic Woman

Sad to say goodbye to:
Jericho (I hope it gets picked up by Sci-Fi. If it does it will be the only reason I watch that much hated channel.)

I like Scrubs too and I used to love Farscape but I've seen it too much and kind of killed the experience for myself. I mainly watch typical guy stuff like Family Guy, American Dad, South Park. I love Politically Incorrect, sometimes catch The Daily Show and Colbert Report. Some random stuff on the Discovery Science Channel. Oh yeah, and the new Spider-Man cartoon.

I bet it's been debated more times than anyone would bother taking the time to count, but I'm not so sure House is an INTJ. He makes all his diagnoses based off of his senses, suggesting more of an "S" personality. Also, he tends to act impulsively a lot, which would indicate "P", not "J'. So maybe House is closer to ISTP?

This is a subject that makes me a little sad because most of my favorite television shows are no longer on the air. The Adventures of Pete and Pete, Futurama, The Adventures of Brisco County Jr, Arrested Development, Seinfeld.

I don't watch much TV anymore, but it seems like I pay for HBO just so I can watch Curb Your Enthusiasm.

This truly has been debated to death, and no one ever budges. To each his own; I would vote INTJ.

pete and pete was great. Futurama has some new eps in the works. I never got seinfeld. I think I am the only person in the world that really can't stand that show.

There are many good shows out there: 30 Rock, Weeds, LOST, Desperate Housewives, Curb Your Enthusiasm.

Here in Brazil the soap operas still rules, but we are improving our TV skills from watching some good cable shows.

Oh, love The Office.

The Office
30 Rock

Arrested Development
Psych
The Daily Show

Eureka

My problem is that i don't get cable or satellite so i have to rent them or get them online. Hulu (To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 2 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.) has a fairly large selection, and it's legal. Unfortunately, they don't always have all of the episodes of the shows on there.

I never got seinfeld. I think I am the only person in the world that really can't stand that show.

For years, neither did I. The key to that show is to NEVER start an episode at any point after the begining lest nothing make sense. You either watch it from beginning to end or not at all, and even then it took like 8-10 episodes before I said "hey, I kinda like this."

From what Little I saw of that show, Elaine was not a N and she doesn't seem introverted either. Or terribly thinking... Judging I'd agree with. her character REALLY was grating. Esfj would be my guess for her. Kramer was the only character I did like on that show.

I didn't like her either, but she didn't seem extraverted to me. I mean, except for the occasional boyfriend the only social connections she seemed to have were the other 3 main characters on the show. Only Kramer seemed to have aquaintenances and friends outside the of the other 3.

Jerry was probably IxTP and I didn't like George much, but I'd guess ISFP.

Actually, I didn't like any of the characters individually (except Kramer), but I thought they had an awesome dynamic and I couldn't help but laught at some of the impossibly bizarre situations they got themselves in.

hmm, yes the Twilight Zone is good. make me think of Alfred Hitchcock Presents another oldie and goodie. when i was a kid (early '70's for this eg.) there was a TV show that i always caught on Fridays (missed the ealier episodes though)...it started out as Night Gallery (again by Rod Serling) and then it transitioned into Circle of Fear. these were some damn freaky weird (scary for some) shows. as a kid around 8 or 9 i just found them fascinating. i was heavy into science fiction/horror/cartoons and comic books at this time. some interests do stick.

what precisely is NT about it?

It's hard to put my finger on it, and maybe I'm wrong, but every NT I've ever known either relates to the characters or, if they don't relate to them, still exhibit Seinfeld characteristics. I think it's just the way the show is set up as a group of elitists who basically spend their life questioning, analyzing and ripping apart the world around them. They don't fit in with other people and they're convinced it's because they're on a higher level than the rest of the world, except on the rare occasion when they realize their own faults, in which case they become self-loathing, but still elitist. This is basically a boiled down version of Keirsey's description of the NT temperament.

I am disapointed with the ending of the Prisoner series. I know Patrick Mc Goohan has defended the ending, saying "Number 1" is really the evil in all of us. Yet in my opinion, the ending was poorly directed and nothing was resloved.

For some reason, I'm really digging Third Rock From the Sun, at the moment. For the life of me, I can't figure out why...

It's funny?

It's well written?

John Lithgow is a great actor?

Could be that it just hits some kind of sweet spot. I have that with Two Guys, a Girl and a Pizza Place (Two Guys and a Girl). My love for that probably stems mainly from the freedom that show gave Ryan Reynolds, but it's still something I'd typically feel quite neutral about (like Two and a Half Men).

From time to time I like some series and watch a lot of them in a row (using Internet, not TV). Not recently though. Really, all of it seems worthless.

I came to tell I just watched some episodes of Mythbusters, for the first time. There are useful things, but the whole hyper attitude is kind of ... unnecessary, to put it mildly. They do tend to call a "proof" a single experiment that is not always completely convincing; and in addition should require more than one tryout to be conclusive. In the end, this is just a show. It lets some lazy TV-watchers to boast around about "facts" that they can never be sure of. I can't completely trust a show that produces this:

What kind of argument is this? What they prove is that there are reflectors on the moon. Does it prove that Apollo brought them there? No. They can be put there by unpiloted spacecraft, obviously. Now, what type of audience is this show targeting? (I'm not saying the conclusion is wrong, just they use flawed logic in-your-face.)

I don't care much. It just could be bothering to have to argue with somebody who's applying wrong arguments from a TV show, using its popularity as some kind of authority.

Since I hate to be tied to the TV in order to catch current episodes, I tend to get my favorite series on DVD when they come out. Many of my favs are similar to what folks have already posted:

Firefly (my all time favorite SF - shame it was prematurely canceled)
Dexter
Gallactica
Monk
NCIS
A Touch of Frost
Midsomer Murders
Heros
Dr Who
Bones
Inspector Morse

Doctor Who is my all time favourite show. New Who and Classic series. The Doctor is a brilliant character, a kind of cerebral, daredevil antihero the like of which is rarely seen.

I absolutely hate reality TV, on the grounds that it's superficial and sophomoric consumerist crap. If my sister has commandeered the television and I'm watching it for even five minutes out of sheer boredom I start to feel my brain dribbling out of my ears.

I tend to like a lot of sci-fi though. Stargate (SG-1 and SGA), Dark Angel, Firefly and pretty much anything with vampires (my guilty pleasure) on the grounds that there's something about bloodthirsty creatures of the night that I can identify with.

I love Dr. Who (2005 onwards, have not seen the older ones yet), he's just absolutely brilliant in every way.

Torchwood because Harkness just rocks.

There's nothing much on the american side that has perked my interests for a while but that's because I havn't really looked into it, I was hoping to watch mad men.

TV shows that I've saved are:

Friends - most amazing chemistry of six tv people I've ever seen, they could have kept going past season 10, ugh and now all their careers went sad.

Futurama - Physics, comedy, satire, irony, math, robots and limitless possibilities for adventure.

The Simpsons, Family Guy, Robot Chicken - for brain switch off-ing.

I grew up without TV so I don't know anything about most of these newfangled shows that are on nowadays, so I'd say my tastes are a bit unusual, but here are my favorites:

Red Green Show
Daria
Top Gear
Mythbusters
Dirty Jobs
Are You Being Served?
The Good Life
Tom and Jerry
Pink Panther

Burn Notice
Mad Men
Rome
Scrubs
Friends
30 Rock

Breaking Bad, House and Psych are all right too. I'll watch them if someone else has got it on. I also like Law and Order: CI just for Vincent D'Onofrio's character :p.

Lost and Battlestar Galactica also seemed cool, but I never got into them soon enough, and now I can't find time to catch up.

There are only two shows on at the moment that I don't want to miss - Dexter (coming to the end of season 2 here in the UK) and
Shameless (which you will probably never see if you live outside the UK).
I also like
The Big Bang Theory
My Name Is Earl.

From the past
Band of Brothers. Excellent.
The Wire. Also excellent.
Due South. The one with the Mountie who goes to Chicago with his deaf wolf and who speaks to his dead dad. Great fun.
The Sopranos. I missed a few episodes and decided not to watch any more until I could get it on DVD. I'm waiting for the price to come down. :)
Aufwiedersehen, Pet. Another UK one. Incomprehensible to most Brits, never mind anyone else. Being reshown on ITV4 at the moment.

.I love and adore British Humor, or the humor from the Commonwealth. My top 4 entertaining shows -in no particular order- are:
i) Flight of the Conchords (New Zealand- Britain)
ii) My family (Britain- especially first 5 seasons)
iii) Keeping up Appearances (Britain)
iv)Chaser's war on Everything (Australia)
I could watch it over and over again and it's funny every time :P

OOOH, also
Fawlty Towers (British) -hilarious!
