Where does MBTI come up?

I found the MBTI test while browsing the web. I was just wondering where this is used in the real world. I would assume it's probably used in therapy, but where else? Has anyone ever seen it pop up, for example, at work or school? I figured people in a group environment might be able to work better together if they had this knowledge. I'm just curious how often it comes up if ever.

I assume it is probably used more in the psychology type classes, or did it pop up other places too?

It was actually done in the introduction to university course at my school. You'll find many psychologists have different views on personality or don't fancy Jung.

Did you have to take it and discuss it as a class? What exactly was the context they were giving it in?

Yep, church here too. But I first came across it in 9th grade health class at a public school. Sex, drugs, and... MBTI.

Mine specifically used it to match people with service areas that suited their personalities. Guess trying to maximize their "resources" in the congregation.

it comes up wherever you want it to. specifically, i use it as a means if aiding to my understanding of behaviors that don't make sense to me. typically i find that the people i have the hardest time understanding are Fs, go figure.

Wow, that's pretty interesting. Like I said, I'd never heard of that before now, but I guess it's a pretty good idea.

My grandma used it actually to help herself understand the church leadership better.

My senior English class took the MBTI. We did it in order to understand ourselves a little better so we could write better personal statements to colleges.
