i've tried to look for more information about this?
i was reading through someone's post about psychopathy, and i was reading through the (few) selections of aggressive narcissism, and thought, "wow, this describes a co-worker of mine to a tee!"
is there any more kind of information out there on this?
i'm gonna try googling a bit more now

I know that narcissism is a symptom of a bipolar person in the throes of a manic phase. I had a bipolar boss for about a year and had to quit because he was completely out of his mind at times. He gave me an autographed copy of some self-published textbook he wrote, like I cared. He would absolutely torment credit card customer service folks on the phone, berating them into getting out of (absolutely legitimate) credit card charges. He would frequently try to lecture me about the operation of the business like I was an idiot (and he was pretty much usually completely wrong).
Look up symptoms of bipolar disorder too to see if anything else matches.

Aparently I "suffered" from Narcissistic Personality Disorder when I was younger; this is according to my psychiatrist and I see where she gets that. However, it was not due to being a symptom of Bipolar disorder, it's a disorder in itself.
"suffered" in quotations because obviously one who has NPD doesn't consider the state he is in as anything to be pitied but is so absorbed in himself that he literally is like someone who doesn't have the capacity to empathize or have any sort of "feelings" for anyone else. Even towards himself the only thing he feels is a constant unjustified sense of entitlement which he thinks is a "true love."
People with NPD can be "cured" with psychotherapy or some just grow out of it I think. I just grew out of it due to a lot of factors in my life; amazingly patient, loving, and understanding friends and family and the most unlikely method: my addiction to a drug that opened the parts of my mind that had been closed because of my pre-occupation with my own ego. Even my psychiatrist said it was a method that was both destructive and a form of self-medication.
Anyway, yeah, there's a lot more info on it if you search for "narcissistic personality disorder" on wiki and google

I am intrigued by this comment.......
".....a drug that opened the parts of my mind that had been closed."
I have recently discovered the same thing happened to me with a 'particular drug' that I had never used before. The parts of my mind that were consistantly shut down due to what I call my 'negative thinking' were suddenly available to me. I was able to see things from a variety of perspectives instead of just my own. Can you expound on your experience for me........I didn't know this phenomenon existed. Why have I never heard of this before?

My ex boss was somewhat aggressive. I can't work out if it was because he was loud and obnoxious and talking s***, or if I was going crazy myself.
Just make sure you document EVERYTHING and if you spot inconsistencies with what they say/do, bring it up in a team meeting.

Malignant narcissism is NPD with traits of anti social pd. Sam Vakin specialises on NPD. If you want a more-scientific perspective go for Personality disorders in modern life, by Millon.
