Man, I hope this isn't a repeat. I did a few searches so I think it's alright. Well, the question is, what is it or what do you do to instantly recharge yourself?
Since I asked first, I'll answer first. For me, listening to some good rock music will easily give me a boost of energy and oddly enough cooking, maybe it's the smell of FOOD!!! lol.
I can instantly reenergize myself with a boost of willpower. There are exceptions when I am suffering from certain moods.

Sleeping, inspiration, Plato, and seemingly complicated mathematical equations boost me up. Classical music and Celtic Woman's songs are good stuff to re-boost me. Hayley Westenra's too :)

Sleep, meditation, tea, some types of music, being alone for many hours, having an amazingly fascinating conversation, achieving a major goal, meaningful interaction with other people.

being shot AT would probably do it too. Nothing like an instant boost in adrenaline thru the fight or flight reflect

Nietzsche is instant energy for me. Also, crushing megalomaniac chess players in speed chess also increases my strength. I think it's important to note that energy is not an outcome but a continual process. Some people can have an energetic explosion of sheer ecstacy when the blood turns to electricity and one becomes charged for the night. Others can spread this out across a week, a month a year. And some who are seasoned fighters can spread this energy over a life time and dedicate themselves to a project of an ideal. Something beyond man - something more than man.

Planning future events and trying to figure out what will happen is absolutly my number one.

Fresh, clean scents. Like cilantro or mint. One whiff of these, my mind is refreshed and energized.

A few hours alone usually does it for me emotionally. Oh, but I guess that isn't really instant. Actually finishing a project gives me a nice boost as well.
Physically, anything with caffeine will do.

1/2 day of strenuous hiking; a day or two of wilderness backpacking; rock climbing.
The first two--after about an hour, I start to get into the zone, and I finally start chilling.
With the third, its instantaneous.
Oh--I just saw Geonerd's post--and must add shooting revolvers at the range--also an almost instantaneous recharge--but not as deep for me as the other three--however, it still gets your mind off of what was at hand that is wearing you down, and into the zone.

I've actually developed the ability to release small amounts of adrenaline on command; nothing like a good scare, but it helps for a short time. At first this was incredibly addictive, but now I hardly ever do it. Oh, and sex doesn't energize, it sedates.

Adrenaline! Indeed. I believe you can trigger adrenaline rushes. I can concentrate, and it's almost as if I've got an electrode zapping my brain.
In a pinch, loud music and energy drink.

*hands Edeag a cup of mint tea*

(In all seriousness, though, do you ever chew mint flavored gum to help with this in work or school related situations?)

after a long day at work I need a peaceful and serene environment... therefore I like to go home set the mood with whatever colors I like on my crystal, put on instrumental music with NO LYRICS and just lay down and relax...
also a long hot bath if I'm extremely stress out will relax me... I tend to do this very late night almost early morning when I can't get myself to sleep and actually enjoy sleeping in the water for a while.... with nice instrumental music in the background
Sex as mention before sedates me to some extend... but lately that is so rare that I don't really care much about it... I have more important things in life to worry about than sex.
After I've done any of the above I'm re-energized to continue with whatever it was I had in mind at the time....

Sleep, ordering a new toy, tuning something to max efficency (overclocking to the ragged edge on every part, tuning a carb, cleaning up some port work, etc...), anything that makes my adrenaline go.

Well that DEFINATELY takes my mind off of whatever it is I was working out, I can't say that it recharges me mentally. Unless its absolutely mind bending sex where something new and interesting happens... (you like doing something in bed and finally do it and your partner says she loves it when you do that!). That'll boost me for DAYS.
As for just straight up normal and regular mental recharging; a long drive ALWAYS does the trick for me. Left for hours just to muse and mull over concepts and situations at my will makes me feel great.
Luckily/unfortunately for me my girlfriend lives 9 hours away and every other weekend I get 18+ hours of driving. Its a boon and a bitch all in one! That dichotomy alone is interesting enough to recharge the hamster in my head.

I concur that your observation is quite interesting.
But is sex actually something that "recharges?"
Perhaps it is more of a "release?"
Now if I reflect back 20+ years when I was single, maybe there was some "recharge" involved--particularly if it was accompanied by the thrill of a new and developing relationship?
Yea, I recall some recharge way back then, although I still wonder if the "high" was tied to something more than just the sex. The thrill of romance, etc.?
Any thoughts?

Wow, you posted something that is essentially exactly what I was talking about, and almost at the same time. Damn it feels good to have found this forum. But yes, I agree with you, at least, I agree with what I think you mean.

A good night's sleep.
I don't drink caffeinated things, but just plain water is great for a jolt on a hot day.

Kittens. Kittens are instant wake-me-ups for me. They're also great pick-me-ups. I don't care if everyone I cared about just died in some horrible, tragic accident--if I see a couple kittens playing around I can't help but be incredibly happy and excited.
