I created this poll to collect statistical data about which next-generation current generation gaming platforms people here own.
NOTE: Only vote for PC if you use it for avid video gaming.

Which of your consoles do you like better?
I'm considering buying a Playstation 3 if only for the Blu-Ray player.
Although I wish Microsoft would release a Blu-Ray adapter for the Xbox 360 like they did with HD-DVD.

Now I must ask, why does it kick more ass?

Graphics mostly but it just seems faster prettier and more powerful. 360 is like the ps2

360 is a great console. If the PS3 had the games then it might compete.

Ditto, actually.
I still have a gamecube. I need to catch up with the times. If I got a wii, I would play it with a gamecube controller, whenever I got the chance.

i only use my pc for age of empires... when it comes to gaming...
and i have a psp... which probably isn't a console in the traditional sense, but i can play FFVII on it~ ^^
My INTJ and I own all four. I've only played Wii, and barely played it at that. He plays on his PCs mostly.

I have a Wii, and I only bought it for Brawl.
I want a PS3; but only for Metal Gear Solid 4, and Resident Evil 5. :( But, alas I am poor.

Hmmm...
Some plug in thing with 3 or 4 variations of pong, Apple IIE, Nintendo, Sega, N64
Past that I stuck to the PC since graphics better than console graphics became affordable. Right now im on an AMD gaming system with an ATI 4850. I have no interest in the current gen whatsoever since they are very expensive and have the graphic power of a 40 dollar video card (both ps3 and Xbox360 about as powerful as a 7600GT or 7900GS). I would rather pop a 150-200 dollar video card in my computer every 1 or 2 years and stay way ahead of the console curve ;)
*sorry to continue the console bashing but its a fact most people are never told. Most consoles render games at low resolutions and just upscale the image. They aren't true HD gaming.

Actually, the 360 operates on a modified ATI X1900 (although it's more similar to the HD 2000 series architecture) and the PS3 operates on a modified nVidia 7800GTX. The 360's GPU is slightly more powerful, although the PS3 has a different kind of CPU and better networking capabilities.
The thing about the PS3 is that what makes it more powerful has very little to do with actual gaming. As a system, overall, it is impressive, but in terms of graphical quality, it's not much different from the 360.
I'm probably going to get a PS3 and try out its games. I also have a 360 and a Wii, so I will feel incomplete unless I have all three consoles. Plus, the PS3, as I understand, allows you to take Blu-Ray discs out of the player and will remember where you left off when you put it back in...or maybe it's an urban legend.
I agree with you that PC is better than consoles, overall.

360, I don't play much anymore. But I was addicted to a PC MMO for 2 years.

PS3:
500mhz
24 pipelines
8 rops
DDR3 at 700mhz on a 128 bit bus (256mb)
7800GTX
430mhz
24 pipelines
16 rops
DDR3 at 600mhz on a 256 bit bus. (256mb or 512mb)
7600GT
560mhz
16 pipelines
8 rops
DDR3 at 700mhz on a 128 bit bus. (256mb)
I owned a 7600GT and its biggest bottleneck was the 128bit memory bus. Much to my annoyance the core on mine could overclock like a beast and the memory didn't want to go up much at all. I could overclock the core as much as I wanted and it would barely budge my scores (usually ran it at 690). The PS3 core is a slightly gimped 7800GTX (half the rops) strapped to the memory bandwidth of a 7600GT. I am assuming they went with the gimpy 128 bit bus to save money on production costs since a 256 bit bus would have made the boards much more complex. I dont own a PS3 and haven't read up on them much but from looking at the stats it probably can't run AA or AS very well at all and probably dislikes high resolutions (hence the upscaling).
Sorry for the rant, it just annoys me that sony put a beast of a CPU in the system and then put a midrange video card in to save a few bucks on an already expensive machine... even though the video card is what matters the most in any gaming system!
You are right on the 360 though, I probably gave the 360 too little credit. It was pretty good when it came out. They didn't shortchange people in the video deparment like sony did.

Just a guess, but you might still feel incomplete even after owning 3 video gaming consoles.

I use both the XBOX 360 and a PC, though I use the PC less and less.
I used to be a pretty hard core PC gamer, but over time I got sick of all the glitches and playing the 'will my exact system run this, or will it freeze because my computer was made when Mars was in opposition to Venus and the astral planes were out of balance' game. Also, PC's are more powerful but the PC game industry specs ramp up so fast that not only do you need a new video card every other year, but half the time you need more ram and a better CPU every 2 years.
I switched to console because. A. I'm not so much a hardcore gamer anymore. B. I wanted a system I could go to the store...walk to the section that said Xbox 360 games, buy one without reading ANY specs or requirements, take it home and play it. C. I started using my PC for professional uses and grew leery of all the patches and tweaks I had to do to the system to play games and have it still be reliable enough for work.

I play games on my PC fairly often, but I'm not avid in the least.
I own Gamecube, Playstation 2, N64, SNES, and I use the PC occasionally, although I usually stick to titles a few years older so I can play them cheaper, and on better hardware than I would have been able to at the time. In other words, I wait until common hardware can deliver the "full" experience, and all/most of the bugs have been fixed.
I really hate online games though, because I don't like having to keep on paying to keep playing, the game not having a defined "end," and having to worry about meeting other people's schedules and expectations just to have fun. I worry about other people's expectations and schedules in real life, I want to be a bit of a lone person/party questing in an RPG.

I use consoles for casual gaming :p
I'd take my Geforce 8800 GTS any day over console and it seems odd my last video card was X1950 and it's just sitting around... considering it's used to power a current generation console.

You mean Massively Multiplayer Online games specifically right? because not all online games charge subscription, its usually only the MMOs. That pays for the unending content.

Sure, I love my PS3 (movie player) and PSP (podcast player).
Games … are another matter. flOw (To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 2 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.) was nice for a bit, but I seem mostly apathetic toward the medium these days.
2001 (To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 2 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.) is damn pretty on Blu-ray, though.

I have an Xbox 360 and Nintendo DS Lite. I like them both, although I wish Nintendo would come out with more games for the DS.

Actually I am very lucky. I have all the Consoles except for X360 and PSP. It starts from the Game Boy (that big, heavy Thing xD), goes up to Game Boy Pocket, Color, Advance, DS etc.; then from NES to SNES, N64, Cube, Wii; X-Box (normal one); Dream Cast, Sega; PSX, PS2, PS3...I love Games. =D
My favorite Consoles are actually the DS, Cube, PS2/3, Wii and SNES. Talking about the never ones (PS3 mainly) I really enjoy the Metal Gear and Devil may cry 4 Games. They rock! ><
Sometimes I do use my PC for Games too. But not so often, just because I have other Things to do on it. ^^

I mostly game on my PC, but that's because mostly I'm a retro-gamer and I have seven emulators on the thing.
I do have a Wii. I wish there were more good games for it, but I have been happy with Super Mario Galaxy, No More Heroes, and Okami.
I might pick up a PS3 this Christmas along with a copy of Bioshock.
