So who here plays go? Seems to me like a perfect INTJ game, since it puts strong demands on strategic thinking as well as relying a great deal on gradually improving intuition.
I've been in love with the game from the moment I first saw it. Immediately obvious was the aesthetic appeal of the black and white stones in their intricate patterns on the board, but the intensely concentrated yet relaxed state of mind the game tends to put me in is also very pleasing.
I play mostly on KGS Go Server and have been at it for about a year, on and off.

I am very fond of playing/watching go. I like playing with another person with real stones though.

I play Go online at Kiseido Go Server (KGS), where my user name is DGMacneill.

I agree that playing face to face is much preferable to online play, but in my circle of acquaintances go players are sadly in scarce supply. I've only played on a real board a couple of times but the persons I have introduced to the game have never really had the attention span to establish any sustained interest.
Also, my recommendation of the game to fellow INTJs must come with a slight warning. Lacking sufficient self discipline, I got so sucked into the awsomeness of the game that I delegated an unwarranted amount of time to it; go can easily be described as a source of intellectual self-gratification.
Especially I enjoyed the first few months with the game when improvement was steady and I quickly went up the ranks (or down actually; those who are familiar with the somewhat complex ranking system will understand). Nowadays I don't play so often anymore but I do enjoy watching a game or two while I'm mentally digesting whatever is on my mind at the moment. I find it massages my thought processes.

The three players >= kgs 1d in the club at uni are all intjs. And yes, we've all studied this game to a fair extent at points in our lives.

I want to get into Go. Any good (free) online books to learn the tactics and strategy? My current level of knowledge of Go is limited to knowing the rules and having played several games against my brother.

Have you lost your first 100 games yet? If not then I'd go do that before reading a book on strategy. After that, Lessons in the Fundamentals of Go is excellent.

I enjoy playing/watching Go, but haven't in a while. Used to play with a friend, but he left. I'll probably get myself a goban and practice a bit at home. I need to put some study into it.
I play go at KGS, not that great (11 k), but I do enjoy the game. Guess that after a certain level you need to start playing quite a lot and reading books to improve, probably not going to do that, I just play for fun.

I played a bit at my university, and got my ass kicked by the comp sci guys. I'm going to start going to another go club next week, because I'm following a girl there. ;) I'm told there are people there who suck, so I should be OK.

No, I won most of the dozen or so games I and my brother have played. ;D

Necromancy alert! Although I'm partly glad you revivified this soil because boy do I enjoy this game. It's probably the only abstract board game that I really do enjoy. That said I don't practice or play often so I'm terrible at it unless playing against beginners.
There's some pretty good tutorials with basic tactics online. Some of them have little virtual boards that you can play on intermittently to demonstrate a situation. Very cool.

Hikaru no Go (To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 2 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.) - pretty cool show, that inspired a lot of people to play Go.
