View Full Version : How many Guns do you have?

This isn't a gun law or registration thread. Im just wondering how many guns each person has. I was wondering "How armed are INTJs". Figured it would work better as a poll since everyone who does own guns is going to feel the need to tell what all they have. Everyone who hates guns is going to feel the need to flame the gun owners or state their opinion. This way we dont lose the actual info ;)
*Note, Paintball guns not included.
Now my redneck brag section
357 Mag Colt Python, S&W 38 special, Gold Plated S&W .25 semi auto pistol, Sears 20 guage, M12 Shotgun, 2 semi auto, 1 bolt action, and 1 level action .22 caliber rifles. 1 ancient rusty hand made revolver a .45 round falls straight through. And... a paintball gun. Thats about it ;)
Am I a strange INTJ?!?! we shall see as the poll numbers come out.
I also understand that views are going to be skewed because of regional differences. As much as we would like to think we INTJs all think for ourselves, we are not immune to having things beat into our heads from a young age. I also understand that most answers will be from the US, but this is a fun poll in a message forum lounge, not science.

Does a BB Gun count? Cuz that's all I got.
I hate guns in general and prefer swords. Swords are more fun and require more skill. Of course, a gun could destroy a sword which is the main reason why I hate guns.

Guns are alright, I probably want to own a gun when I'm a real adult just to fire off at a range or something, I'd also want to try hunting at least once. Guns aren't that cool though, I want to get a custom made sword for me though.

I had guns well before I was 18 :/ I've had my 20 guage and .22s since I was about 12.
They were of course locked up but they were mine (overprotective parents so I rarely saw the guns and only shot maybe once a year supervised).
I didn't think of the underage thing.

Those are the only guns I have. I don't really have an opinion on guns, yet, I just don't have any.

I've never owned a gun in my life or even touch one in real life nor do I have plans to own one anytime soon because I wouldn't want my kids to find it by mistake. Now a days is hard to keep things away from kids, specially teenagers and my son is now 13.
However, I would like to learn how to use one and wouldn't mind going to a place where I can learn how to use them. I think it will be fun to learn how to use them.
The closest I got to a gun was when I was helping a friend on his pawnshop and a robber came in and put the gun next to my brain before pointing it to my son who was 1 1 1/2 at the time. So I'm lucky I'm still here, but even that didn't made me get a gun.
A stun gun may be useful to me, but I'm not sure if that would be a good idea.

You can actually rent firearms at gun ranges if you want to learn a bit about them. Definitely take someone who knows what they're doing with you, though; mishandling a firearm is a very fast way to get seriously injured. They're actually really fun if you just use them for recreation. There's a lot of work that goes into cleaning and maintaining them, but it's well worth it for the fun of going out and popping some holes in things every once in a while. Great for blowing off steam, if nothing else.
As for storing them, gun safes are an absolute must for weapons that aren't intended for self-defense (and even those weapons should be kept in a safe when you're not carrying them). However, if you do decide to purchase a firearm, the absolute best thing you can do for your son's safety is to make sure he's properly trained and experienced with firearms. Just like with cars, you will hurt yourself and others if you don't know what you're doing, but if you are properly trained you can use guns all the time without incident. Firearms training would actually be a great father-son bonding activity if he's curious about them as well.
Just my two cents though. I grew up around guns but don't own any myself at the moment. I'd like to get some good long-range target rifles and a couple pistols/revolvers at some point, but college consumes my paychecks at this point.

I have never touched a firearm, and I have no desire to ever do so. I recognize the right to responsible ownership of firearms; I also hate the darn things. I hate having to hear a huge BOOM! when I am trying to enjoy peace and quiet in my own home, surrounded by forty wooded acres of my own land.

Forty acres? You shouldn't be hearing gunshots with that much land, assuming your house isn't right on the road, and they certainly shouldn't be loud; contrary to popular belief, gunshots don't travel all that far. Definitely make sure no one is shooting illegally on your property, especially if it's close to your house.

This particular rifle, was built with the use of slave labour, from Buchenwald, and was sent with reinforcements for the German 6th Army.....
The German 6th Army, was annihilated less then one year later in Stalingrad. Where this rifle was captured by the Soviet Union.....where it was refurbished, and sat in waiting, for another war, that never came, until recently.

I don't have any firearms. I do hear them every day though. I live next to a gun clubs firing range, the first time I heard it I got worried and was going to call the cops about hearing gun shots, it sounded like a gun battle. Later it was explained to me about the range, so I got used to it, it is way better then the airplanes overhead at my last place.

It really is a safe spot they have real large berms and they don't shoot towards the house they shoot towards the mountains, and as for the crime Riverratt is spot on, I feel safe and my property is safe. You get used to the noise just like anything else.

I wish you lived closer, I would be honored to let you shoot this, I would even open a "spam can" of fresh military M2 Ball .30 cal ammo to mark the occasion...

I don't own a gun just because it hasn't been high enough on my to do list, but I enjoy shooting very much.
That being said, I'm more likely to purchase a bow than a gun as I find archery a bit more engaging. Not to mention the comparative lack of red tape.

I can't own guns because I would have to be like 30 and own a large-capital company and get approval from the police chief... But my dad has a Ruger 10/22 that's been modified to fuck with firing mech, supressor, hogue stock, and bushnell reddot, two Sti competitors, a Glock 17 for home defense, and a Glock 26 for concealed carry.
Gun laws are ridiculous here.

I never felt any desire to have a gun. I don't hunt, and I live in a town that gets about two burglaries per year, if that. I used to enjoy target practice with a BB gun when I was a kid, though.

Ah, I should have seen that coming.
Of course, you do realize that a Gunn is way better on every conceivable level than a gun, right? Whether you're protecting your family, hunting dangerous or delicious animals, or just keeping the king of England out of your face, a Gunn is what you really want to have.

You crack me up! I do usually have a problem with keeping the king of England out of my face. He's so pesky like that.
Thank goodness, I've got you and the rest of this armed militia here to keep him at bay. :)
