Ok, so I have this adoration for salamanders. I don't know why, just that I do. Amphibians are pretty kickass anyway, but salamanders especially so.
I like all kinds from cute little red efts to yellow spotteds and creepy looking hellbenders. Something about these creatures fascinates me.

My father, who I believe was an INTJ had a particular fondness for amphibians and reptiles in general, and salamanders and turtles specifically.
Upon my father's urging, in fifth grade I did my science project on salamanders, one of which I was especially fascinated by, the translucent axolotl. Oddly enough, that same year my father changed my mother's vanity plate to AXOLOTL.
True story!
And talk about a weird_o, yes, my father definitely was.
What property of them is so attractive?

i had two newts. one drowned, and the other somehow managed to find itself squished between the frame and mattress of my waterbed as we were taking turns jumping on the bed and watching it fly into the air.... poor thing. the same thing happened to a hamster, but he survived ;)
i am not personally very fond of lizards... too high-maintenance.

I've never been able to figure that out, they just are. Like so many things, I don't know why I like them so much, so I learn more to try to figure out what the "big deal is" for me.

So...you were bouncing your hamster and newt on the waterbed...:stunned:...is there anything else we should know about you?! :scared:

Well we all know never to lay on her waterbed while she bounces us trying to see how high in the air we will fly. Also, we should probably never ask her to petsit our small aquarium pets.
Back OT, I like the yellow spotted salamander the best. They are hard to find and look pretty cool.

I love salamanders!! They come in so many interesting colors. My friend came across one less than a year ago, and I think she still has pictures of it. We can't figure out what kind it is, but I don't think it's native to our area.

Yes, I love salamanders, in all their cute spotty multi-colored glory. I love this kid's book about them (To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 2 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.), too.
And I especially love that you made a thread about them. I can honestly say a thread about loving salamanders is the last topic I would have ever thought I'd read about in any forum anywhere (with the obvious exception of an amphibian forum, if such a thing exists).

Post post post! Now I want to see. Sometimes, during certain life stages, they look different, so that could be it as well. Also, ones like the Eastern Yellowback Salamander (I think that is it's proper name) is sometimes redbacked, but usually yellowbacked.

Hell yeah! I love these kinds of things. I really want a pet lizard but my husband would not be keen. He thinks I like creepy things (I am also fascinated by bats). My favourite creature of this sort is the Komodo Dragon from Indonesia. It has pretty disgusting habits with regards to eating (so not the reason I like it) but it just amazes me that it is 5 foot long and it has such an impressive looking body. Here's a link for anyone who doesn't know what they are like To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 2 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.
I also looked up yellow spotted salamander. Yep, that looks pretty cool to me. To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 2 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.
The closest I've gotten to getting my own lizard is holding one in a pet store. They feel pretty neat. I was amazed at how much personality they have.

I don't know!!! They look cool. And they are fascinating because they seem so primitive.

Ok! :) I will definitely talk to her about it today and have her send it to me.

I had a dream in which I was trying to catch a yellow spotted salamander I saw in some mud. He was very wriggly, and I caught him by his tail, and then picked up him.
I thought it was funny to dream about salamanders.

Salamaders are pretty fun to look at. I wouldn't say they are my favorite however, or even like them enough to start a thread about them. I have wanted one though to just own it and spend time designing an aquarium. Aquariums with water are pretty fun to make and look at.
I would rather get a frilled lizard, they look amazing.
