Gender, Birth Order & Rational Parents

I am curious to see if parents with a rational personality type are more likely to produce a child with a rational personality type. The poll options are limited to only 20 so I had to cut out one category.

Edit: Oops. I'm the oldest child, a female INTJ. My brother definitely fits the SP temperament, but I don't know beyond that.

This was something that originated from my blog. Something that was discussed was birth order in relation to personality typing so I was curious. I was also limited in the wording of the question as well.

I would have liked to have had more poll options to include twins or those who do not have rational personality type parents to get a better bird's eye view. It seems from this limited sample that the eldest child who have fathers with NT type are more likely to have an NT personality type themselves.

Sucks being the only introvert, but my sister is my closest friend and confidant, and we share a lot of the same views. Don't know my brother at all. Both my parents are very religious and I am not, so talking with them is difficult for me, as I see a lot of their views as irrational, even though my father is technically an NT.

I am the only rational in my family, with the exception of my eldest step-sister, whom I rarely see. :/

Out of all the types, I'd say I'm most comfortable with ENFP. The SJs drive me mad. The ISTPs (my dad and bro) are cool/okay and I get along with them well. My mother (ESFP) is a nut case. My ESTJ step-mom is thinks she knows way more than she actually does. In fact, she's ignorant on most things and a bully. Well, she tries. The only one it works on is the INFP.

DH and I are both NTs though. Our kids, both NTs.

In dh's family at least his father was an NT. I'm not so sure about mil but she was xT at least. At least 2 of 3 brothers were NT.

I'd answer the poll from another family members point of view just so you have data, but I'm not sure you'd want me to do that. Certainly either of the kids' info would work, as we know the MBTI of everyone in my immediate family.

I think there are more male NTs in the first place. Or at least, more mistyped as such because of cultural stereotypes.
