Just out of curiosity, have any other people been infected by the Red Dead virus?
I can just ride around hunting deer and shooting birds for days..

I've got the Red Dead virus something fierce. I've only completed about half of the storyline, though, because I'm way too distracted by riding around, clearing out gang hideouts, and giving banditos their comeuppance.
Unfortunately, I (accidentally) saw some spoilers of the ending online, so I'll never have the "full experience" of RDR, as it were. Oh well.

I bought it and played for a few hours. Haven't become addicted yet.

I'll catch it soon; it's on my to-hire/buy list.

About 30% through now.. I spent a couple days just riding around hunting and helping people out, honing my skills. Now I'm busting through storyline missions like a maniac. This game is insane. I spent ages playing, and I haven't even unlocked 2/3rds of the map yet.
ps. Blondie, nice. (Used to be my nickname in high school ) I'd rewatch that movie in a hurry, if it weren't for RDR!

Ok, I'm really beginning to like this game!
I have just finished the mission were you learn how to use the lasso and I have so much fun using it! :)

Yup, its an amazing game. I'm surprised you're not supremely irritated by some of the American jingo in it though.

Well I have grown up in a world in which American jingo is all you see when you turn on your television. But just because something has jingo in it doesn't mean it's of low quality and there isn't even that much chauvinism in RDR. I hate American patriotism but I can live with it if there's some kind of compromise.

Yeah, I had barely noticed.

I saw the patriotism in the game as just part of the setting. Plus, there are a lots of characters who are critical of the Federal government, like Marsten and the gunslinger guy you meet in Mexico whose name I cannot recall.

I've completed the game and while I enjoyed it, I also had some major issues with it.
Firstly the story is rather poor compared to other Rockstar offerings. The characters are very two dimensional. They're either pure scum or paragons of virtue. And the main character is a complete puzzle to me, he's supposed to be a good man yet he works for rapists and murderers.
It was also far too easy even with the auto aim turned off. I may have a bit of an unhealthy relationship with video games, so perhaps it was designed for more casual gamers
It did have one of the best endings I've ever come across, in any medium.

Got across the river and then turned it off after a couple more missions. Went back to blazblue. It seems like it is a relaxation game, ride around the country side, take pot shot at things.

Have played RDR a couple times now, but seemed boring?!?! Still not done with my COD addiction yet though, so maybe once I get done with COD - RDR will become my new addiction.
