I am fine with hanging back and letting others control things, but if I see incompetence, I prefer to take charge. I will not be controlled by an incompetent, if I have any other option.

Same here. If someone is incompetent, I will attempt to take over. I sometimes don't even realize that I am

Yeah, okay, same here, but replace "incompetent" with "merely adequate," heh. I guess I do get a little controlling when I'm part of a team that's responsible for some product. I hate to turn in anything that's less than excellent.

I usually end up in charge of things. Then I regret it, and try to hang back next time. Then I inevitably take charge again. It's a fun cycle.
