In Art History class I recently learned about the Roman virtues, most notably auctoritas. For those of you who don't know what that is, here is a definition. (To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 2 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.) I believe that INTJs and ENTJs are most naturally inclined to possess this quality. What do you think? In your (maybe) humble opinion, do you possess some measure of auctoritas, and do you have any examples of it at work?

Good question.

I can easily see ENTJ's having auctoritas, as they can't help but herd the sheep.

I can see INTJ's in the context of a guru, or a "man behind the man." Longstreet's quiet yet extraordinarily competent support of Lee would fall into that category. I don't think they would be well known outside of certain circles, and even if they were they would be as likely reviled as exalted. (See Longstreet)

It seems to me that the NFs, particularly the ENF's, would also be able to achieve auctoritas. Their innate ability to connect with everybody makes them a force to be contended with, regardless of the quality (or lack thereof) of their ideas. The serious power players in any society cannot completely ignore the shallow but charismatic leader who delivers the masses.
