Assisted suicide should definitely be allowed. The only real thing that you actually own in this world, is your own life, it is nobody else's you decide what you do with it. If you want to end your life, then nobody should prevent you, it's your decision and your life. It makes sense too, if somebody is in a lot of suffering, whether physically or mentally, they should have the right to end it. Some people are too weak to deal with it and will only live a life of misery, it'd be much more humane to let them end it all.

I'd rather die with dignity rather than prolonged suffering and deterioration of the quality of my life. I think that it is a good thing.

Definately allowed. It will not only stop suffering on the person, but also on the government/hospital wallet.

I favor the concept for people with terminal or debilitating physical ailments. If I were in that condition, facing imminent death after a deterioration of my quality of life, I'd prefer to choose my time, place and circumstances.
I can't fully support the idea of assisted suicide for people who are just looking for their big chance to get away from it all because it's a decision that should only be made by someone who is in full, clear control of their faculties. Depression obviously inhibits rational decision making.
If you had terminal cancer and the only prospect was a period of pain and death or death then there is a case. It cannot be allowed on demand though. Most suicidal people are simply having mental problems, whilst having good health, and will recover.
Drafting the law for this could be difficult. The person would clearly have to want it, but also medical staff. So the suicidal teenager can be given drugs and recover mental balance. The terminal patient who will not suffer undue pain is allowed to slip away normally. There will be objections from the religious groups who would consider any taking of life as murder.

What about those suffering from severely painful, non-terminal illnesses that no amount of medication seems to help? What about a child or someone with a child-like mind that is suffering from terminal cancer? Where should the line be drawn? Who draws the line?
I'm not saying one side is right and the other is wrong. I'm genuinely curious as to how such a complicated problem could be solved. To me there just seems to be too many variables. I also know that no matter what answer is forthcoming, it will not please everyone. However, what answer do you think would please the majority of people?

Just ask "Dr. Death" (Jack Kevorkian (To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 2 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.)) he could probably hook you up.

Assisted suicide is just a voluntary exchange between two or more human beings and therefore should be legal in all cases.
