Hello,
I am new to this forum and an INFP as you can see from my description. My boyfriend is an INTJ. I was wondering in this forum in the last days and I couldn't help noticing how many of you are using a husky or a wolf for an avatar.
That coincidence is just too much so I have developed many theories for this. Maybe it is a recognized symbol for INTJ's, maybe you had a relevant topic in the past and many adopted a husky avatar and didn't change it since, maybe something else.
So I am asking you. Why?
(By the way my bf adores cocker spaniels, he says I look like I am one of them, I love cats and I noticed that many INFP's say that too)

Haha, I have to have 2 posts in order to see the link. So after this post I think I will be able to see it.

Well, I made a search before expressing my questions, I saw this thread but I did not find it enlightening. The thread made an observation and asked for thoughts about the symbol of wolf as a representative one. I do not ask whether you identify yourselves as wolves and if you find it appropriate and why , it's quite obvious that. I am trying to figure out how this trend started.
I will give you an example. When I started reading about typology and stuff and trying to figure what I am, I found out that there are numerous of sites dedicated to INFJ's that use dolphin as a symbol. Let's say I was an INFJ and although I liked dolphins in general had never thought up to that moment that dolphin represented me (mostly because I would not have thought before that I was a part of a group with distinct characteristics as INFJ's). However afterwards I could have see the connection and would felt closer to that animal, adopting the symbol.
So what I was trying to figure out is what started the trend of using huskies and wolves as avatars not whether you like it. Maybe it was someone that used it as avatar first, then there was a big talk about it from other members too that said they like his avatar, then others said that they identify themselves too as wolves and so on. It is surprising to me if there was no particular distinct beginning of this for another reason too. People usually try to be different, even if someone is already resembling himself as a wolf it would be difficult for his ego to accept using an avatar that someone else uses it too, unless there was a discussion among the group that embraced the idea.
Actually now that I can see links I saw one in the previous thread for another discussion about the topic. I did not see anyone mention a previous talk about it, which answers in an extent my questions.
I am sorry if all these sounds unimportant stuff but I am always trying to understand group traits and put things in my mind the way they fit together.

Hi, I am new too. And welcome to the forum.
Great, an INFP - I like INFP females. I find their child like nativity amusing at times.
With respect to the question - I don't know the answer, perhaps its a form of an "inside" joke.

Oh, I think I have figured it now that I have access to links and images. There is a thread in "The Forum and Support" that gives an avatar gallery and most members have adopted one of these (or even all). I recognize there some of the tastes of my boyfriend (like Kubrick).
Thanks for the comment Riz. I have found out about the types of personality 2 weeks ago but it's nice to see that the things that I already have recognized (like what characteristics in me my bf likes and dislikes, or the opposite) match.

I noticed that too; I generally find wolves fascinating, but does not merit the precious spot of my avatar ;) That said, I'm replacing my avatar with something more fitting.

By the way, I tend to get along with INFP females then any other type. Well Actually I like winding them up. So I don't think most of them would feel the same. Yeah, I pretty much hate too much fantasy, I would rather watch the news then listen to someone talking about fantasy. Also, like sublime femininity in my women, in other words I don't expect her to act like a man. Anyway good luck on your relationship with your boyfriend. Always be clear, avoid ambiguity.

Why so many Husky/wolf avatars?
They're not husky, they're big-boned. :cheesy:

When I was little i was obsessed with wolves. I had pictures and i drew them and stuff, but somehow i grew out of it and came to like wild boars and tigers instead. A wolf howling at the moon symbolizes meditative intuition to me so maybe other intJ's are pikcing up on that vibe too, and slapping wolf avatars all over the place.

I used wolf symbology before joining the forum. I didn't use a wolf as an avatar just to have something more carachterful wich people could remember as mine and not make confusion. Well' i didnt go too far off.
I'm also one of the few who's both for cats and canines. That's weird.

What if you don't associate with any animals?
