View Full Version : What's your strongest "letter"?

Which of the four characteristics that make you an INTJ (or whatever you might be) is the strongest? For me, it is definitely the Introversion, both from my test scores and just from knowing myself. I definitely live inside my own head.
My next strongest characteristic would be Thinking (I think.) Without denying the importance of emotion, I definitely incline to keeping them under control.
My iNtuition and Judging are not anywhere near as strong, it seems to me.
How about you?

'T', everything gets analyzed and then 'J' judged, even 'N' gets analyzed, for veracity. Can never just go with my gut response, has to be a reason behind it.

T, my weakest is N or J depending on the test: the cognitive processes test says introverted intuition and extroverted thinking are my highest. On okcupid's test (which gives percentile based scores), I score higher on N than 91% of test-takers.

Anyway, My dominant letters are (Highest to lowest, even though they're very balanced) N-I-T-J

Retook this test recently, and agree with the standout result, which was a score of 100 for Thinking. It's one of the reasons I like watching House so much: although I lack his genius (and, mostly, his unnecessary rudeness) I do admire the raw rationality.

N
The rest depends, it tends to be T J I after N.
N & I are my strongest, in that order, and there was little or no difficulty in discerning that. T is not as strong. J is the weakest by far, and I had to use the other preferences to decide on it. That is I why I consider the hierarchy of functions important. After all, the individual letters do not work independently. To use me as an example:
Firstly, Ni is definitely my dominant function, rather than Ti. Secondly, tertiary Fi makes sense: although due to my upbringing my Feeling function is more developed than it could be, I still describe it as foreign, out of place, surprising, and illogical (especially the emotions). The fact that I want my Feeling function to make sense is how I first figured out I prefer T. Now, with a better understanding of the theory, auxiliary Te describes me well (the third observation). Fourthly, inferior Se makes sense of my forgetfulness and tendency to miss specific details that others remember with ease. So it follows from these observations (dominant Ni, auxiliary Te, tertiary Fi, tertiary Se) that I also have a J preference.
There is, of course, the possibility that not all INTJs have this order of functions. M-B theory is not infallible. For many individuals, it can be far more useful to use type theory in a more general sense, discerning a unique hierarchy of functions rather than trying to fit themselves into a preexisting one.

Analyzing a problem goes like this:
T: Analyzing, then decide whether to use N or S
N: Usually prevalent, then decide to use J or P
I is not in the equation.

If you're asking which characteristic is most dominant over it's counterpart, it's my T. I run something like a 96 or 97.
But I understand the question to be which preference is most dominant over the other three. I have to agree with SmileyMan that N is going to be the primary mode for most of us. Seems to me that "living inside your own head" is actually an indicator of N, not I. The I/E function is more about energy source than idea source.
I think Deadspace's description of T putting the N to the test is accurate, but puts the cart before the horse. The reason NT's in general can make connections other can't, and so quickly, is the relatively seamless transition between creation (N) and analysis (T): we can brainstorm and analyze simultaneously.

For the past 3 years, T has always been the weakest.
My introversion becomes questionable when I'm not barred down by responsibilities. Sometimes, people find it unbelievable that I'm an I.
And others believe I procrastinate far too much to qualify for a J. :cheesy:
In the past, my N would be the weakest. Growing up in a sensor environment, I learned how to take on my S functions and suppress bits of the Ni.

Guys...
"INTJ" is shorthand for a combination of thinking functions -- Ni, Te, Fi, Se. Percentages on tests mean nothing, and the tests can only claim to be up to 70% accurate, at the most.
If you seriously think that your "N" is weak, you may not be INTJ, because INTJs have Ni as their 'leading' function. ENTJs and INTPs have T as a leading function, Te, Ni, Se, Fi, and then Ti, Ne, Si, Fe respectively. If 'N' is seriously so weak, you may not even be an NT (rational) at all, and instead an SJ (guardian).

This is why I said the online tests usually give me 50/50 S/N. I know im an INTJ, but ive just developed my Se reasonably well.
Online tests make a good starting point to figuring out which type you are however. But they are certainly not 100% correct. Having a the test done by a professional psych face to face would probably be a better indicator, and they could explain the results alot better.

Any particular reason that you are not referring to the functions instead of simple dichotomies? When one references to these, they are only looking at a partial description and usually a disparate one. It's quite easy to misjudge whether one is E/I because the forced choices of MBTI do not take into consideration Jung's beliefs that the majority of people are middle of the road when considering the dichotomies.
Furthermore, was it not Myers-Briggs who claimed that the average introvert uses their auxiliary function in defense generally?

I used to wonder whether or not I was a P, but the INTJ description fits me way more. Plus, after posting back and forth with INTPs (here and otherwise) I am almost absolutely sure that I am not one. No offense, but INTPs drive me nuts. ;D

I've taken the MBTI a couple different times and gotten different results. I think my N is my highest followed by I. My T and J are also relatively low.

Mine would be the I followed by T, then J and N.

Hi there everybody.
In my case, I is the strongest without a doubt, and that 93% really gets in the way when I need to get into social activities.
Then comes the S, don't really remember the numbers but it is somewhere in between 70% and 80%.
I am currently trying to develop the other side of both "letters" so I don't get too "extreme".

N, followed by T. The I/E and J/P see-saw, much like my sanity.

I is definitely the strongest, then N, then T, then J...because sometimes I get too fired up/emotional, and I seem to have a lot of P-ish tendencies too at times.

As a friend of mine said, I "reek of N". So N is definately my strongest. Followed by T, then I close behind, and J being a very weak category for me.

I>T>J>N here. In fact the N occasionally flipflops despite the Ni thing, but the INTJ description fits far better than ISTJ or INTP.

Heh. Odd. My J is the strongest, actually. Followed by I then N, T. Feels good.

N permeates everything i do - it's only rarely a choice: i scored almost zero on "S" once, which isn't too good when you have to do something like cross the road, avoid being bitten by a poisonous spider, choose the fresh vegetables at the market so they're not rotting in the fridge by Wednesday, or figure out what someone who just verbally abused you really meant so you can avoid them assaulting you some time in the future. (All these examples have happened to me because i didn't notice something right in front of me that everyone else thought was obvious).
T is very strong - nearly 90% once
I can be strong or not very strong, depending on how stressed i am
J is not at all strong - i scored "J" and "P" equally once, but was still designated the categore "INTJ". Maybe i'll break out into pure maths soon.

I - when i'm really stressed out, i withdraw... i cut contacts with the world... until i am confident that whatever i was having problems with is solved... then i can be more social...
J - I'm not very open to being "not opinionated"... I have an opinion on just about everything (as long as I know what it is about), but in order to get along with others (necessary in the world full of Extroverts), I've learned to tone it down...
N, T - i use gut feelings when i don't have any other means of obtaining what i need, and thinking usually helps it out, i guess. N helps out a lot in class... but if I didn't already have the answer in my head, it couldn't help out... it's very hard for me to utilize N or T by themselves... they just work well together...

N has slightly increases, T has slightly decreased. Behavior-wise, I became more N and less T...

Oh my. I know what it is like...seems like you pretty much have your head in the clouds, thinking about something, oblivious of what's happening around you...

Initially, this seems strange, but when I considered the fact that I was raised in a S dominated family, I'm not surprised my S skills are very strong. I actually thought I was an ISTJ. I didn't discover my N skills until I got to college. That's where I discovered the INTJ personality type

My Te is the strongest, usually hanging around 90%. My Ni stays about the same, but can sometimes be a bit lower than Te. My E and J are pretty low (around 60%). Some days I seriously wonder if I'm truly an introvert at heart, but then I remember how solid my cognitive processes are.

I'm pretty weak on all my letters, but still INTJ
I - 33
N - only 11
T - a whopping 44 for the strongest
and J - 33
Ironically, prior to a fortunate series of unfortunate events this past November - February I thought I was an INFJ based on test results. Said series of events gave me a greater understanding of myself resulting in the one letter alteration being my strongest letter.
