I'm curious ;) How many of you have taken ABRSM and what are your instruments and grade level? Incidentally, anyone have tips on how to pass the performance section of Dip? I played everything without mistake and I thought I was musical *eyes water* Or Quick study? I thought I did ok... But I failed both. I passed Viva Voce and Programme Notes. I was three points from passing performance, two points from passing Quick Study and barely passed Viva Voce. I'm a sad person.

So there:

Piano: Grade 8, going for DipABRSM
Flute: Grade 7, going for Grade 8

Piano: Grade 8 (waiting for results - should have passed I think)
Flute: Grade 8, going for a diploma with the LCM

I passed Dip for violin and the performance basically has to be stellar. Go for a high virtuoso piece, the hardest possible, to cover any kind of "not enough musicality" junk; it shouldn't be impossible. If it gets more difficult technically, then the lack of musicality can be easily disguised.

Best wishes and good luck!

Are you going for LRSM? After I pass Dip (IF), I'd probably try for it before I finish High School. My last exam was on a Boston piano... Killed my fingers. It's very hard to play.

I have grade eight singing, and grade one piano. I can actually play better than that, but I refused to take any more exams after I was eight. I'd like to do a diploma in singing, but haven't really got the time now.
