I haven't seen many of the movies nominated for Best Picture this year. (I did see "Up" and "Up in the Air".) Any recommendations? ("Avatar". I know.)

District 9 is a really good, one-time movie if you're into scifi. I loved it. Christopher Johnson ftw!
I really, really want to see a sequel for it. Retribution. :)

District 9 was really "meh".
Expected more from this. The story is boring, so many things that I thought would be cool to tell about the aliens coming to earth, where they come from, details about their stay etc. but they just didn't, I didn't get that. Allmost everything about it I didn't like actually.

Anyone see "Precious" or "Hurt Locker"?
Saw Hurt Locker last night. It's like the movieversion of the series Generation Kill, wouldn't see it in the cinema but it's enjoyable.

As a female, I'm really really happy that "Hurt Locker" won Best Director and Best Picture Academy Awards. As an INTJ, I'll have to see it before I decide if it's really good enough to have won. I'll definitely see it, then; thanks.

Well I'm glad Avatar didn't win Best Picture; showing a movie in three dimensions doesn't make up for representing characters in one.

I like the sound of your movie, too. Honestly I am so happy to watch or read anything about outer space or aliens that I will be content as long as the story is relatively original. District 9 had an original story, and I really like the idea of a second movie where Christopher Johnson brings back reinforcements to save his people. I would like your movie more, but I still like District 9.
EDIT: I liked Avatar, but it wasn't a great movie, and I'm really annoyed that it overshadowed amazing movies that you can actually watch more than once, like Star Trek. Also, Fantastic Mr. Fox did NOT get the recognition it deserved. I am in love with that movie.

First Academy Award for a Star Trek movie! Even if it was only makeup.

That made me laugh. :p What a ridiculous category to win in....

I really was hoping for a sci-fi story, like Moon I saw a few days before, which was awesome. District 9 had aliens in it, aliens on earth, how cool can that be! But the fact that they were alien wasn't that important actually, they could just as easily be human survivors from from a war or something and it wouldn't make a big difference.

I haven't seen any of them, either, and I'm possibly the only INTJ on earth (lol, pun) who doesn't like sci-fi. I really want to see Precious, though. I'll definitely need to stock up on tissues for that one.
