I'd like to listen to audiobooks while I work.

I wonder if anyone can recommend some great books well read that I can access online (preferably on public domain such as classics?)

(I was listening to Emma here To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 2 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.
But I ended up hating so much her stupidity that by chapter five that I want to kill someone.)

I've enjoyed Little Brother by Cory Doctorow. It's young adult fiction with a bit of social commentary, if that sort of thing pushes your buttons.

A blog post (To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 2 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.) has the relevant retailer links and a sample. It is not gratis, mind you.

If you like scifi then there's "The Algebraist" by Ian Banks, narrated by Anton Lesser. It's really long, but unfortunately not free.

If free as in beer is good enough then how about trying the library? Around my parts they usually have a selection of audiobooks.

What do you work with?

In terms of spoken word, though technically not audio books, my favorite speakers in the world are George Carlin and Richard Pryor.

(In terms of actual audio books, I can recommend anything read by Stephen Fry. Oh my.)

All I did was search for "free audiobooks". <Insert search engine of choice here> is your friend.
