Today (4 March) is Antonio Vivaldi's birthday...
I think it's cool how Google celebrates these forgotten about occasions with their front page.
Are you a fan of classical music? Are you a Vivaldi fan?
Who is your favorite composer? What is your favorite classical music genre? What is your favorite classical piece?
As for me, I'm happy with anything that was written during the Romantic period. It's been a long while since I've been to the symphony. I'd better get cracking...

Holy crap! I love Vivaldi. He rocked the violin and I used to have a CD of his pieces (Four Seasons) when I was younger that I would listen to for hours on end. I don't know what happened to it.
Before him I thought the violin was over rated.

I adore Baroque era classical as well as some neo-composers. A few of the avant-garde composers of the early 20th century interest me.
I don't have a favourite composer, similar to how I don't have a favourite composer of the rock & roll era.
Happy birthday, Antonio! :)

He is my favorite after Chopin.
I am learning to play Spring on the piano.
But my favorite piece is his concert for mandoline. To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 2 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.

Vivaldi is actually my favourite classical composer and I just love Four Seasons. I can still remember the first time I heard it - it was used as the backing track to a current affairs type TV show intro and the music just blew me away. I went out and hunted down a CD as soon as I found out what it was. I've since gone on to acquire other pieces by Vivaldi, but Four Seasons is still far and away my favourite.

Vivaldi was one of my heroes. My father bought me a cassette with some pieces of his and I used to listen to it before bed. When I picked up violin... well, obviously, you know he was the first composer I looked for! I don't think I can narrow myself down to a favourite composer or piece though. I grew up listening to classical music from sun up to sun down (literally, my father collects classical music).

My fifth grade teacher would keep the class orderly and focused on out work by playing the Four Seasons. She also allowed long periods of time for reading which was heaven.
