View Full Version : Children of Men...
Has anyone seen this movie? What are your thoughts?
Seen it some time ago and it was very enjoyable.
I don't have any special thoughts about it though. The scenario seems too unlikely to me. After millions of years of evolution I wouldn't expect life to be so brittle.

good enough movie.. great mood and setting just the plot was too far-fetched reminded me too much of 1984
Watched it several months ago. Was ok, could have been much better especially the ending.

I liked it, although I found the plot too unlikely to take place. The book made me feel gloomy though, especially at the beginning.

Good flick. Makes you think. Clive Owen was great. Camera shots / angles are quite different from most films, it's almost like a documentary.
From a 'could it happen' standpoint - not out of the question with the way we're poisoning our bodies with xenoestrogens.

I always get a kick out of these movies that try to show a potential future with a twist thrown in. I found "Children" to be rather unbelievable, but I still liked it. I know the fear of infertility is a problem that a lot of people fear.
Perhaps the funniest movie with this theme though is Idiocracy. If you like "future scenario" movies, thats one to watch :p

I saw this movie and totally hated it. I really had high hopes for this one, but it totally ruined my expectations. I've seen many dystopian works (movies and novels) but 'Children of Men' was the worst! I expected more details of the dystopian society..but how it ran the plot was extremely sloppy. The movie does not tell why people are being opressed, and how the whole system is functioning. I don't think Clive Owen conveyed his character well enough either. His motives in becoming the 'hero' of the story are unclear. Plus, I really did not like the part that the 'only remaining baby' in the world should come from a black woman, and where the white guy is supposed to protect her. (It seemed quite hypocritical to me.)
The cinematography was pretty good, though. The war scenes are exceptional.
I read opinions from the people who had read the original novel by P.D James and it seems that the book conveys more precise story regarding the dystopian society.

Very solid but unspectacular. Lot of "details" were right, but the plot was not that compelling IMHO.
