Are there any other great British TV shows I should watch like "Red Dwarf" and "The Office?" Any other sci fi comedy series? I really liked Red Dwarf. I'm sure Rimmer is an INTJ (a very incompetent one) and Lister is an ESFP. The Cat is an ENFP and the android is an ISFJ. I really like British comedic sci fi and fantasy shows & movies. I like Brazil, Time Bandits, Baron Munchausen, anything by Terry Gilliam. I like the Monty Python movies like "Life of Brian" and "Monty Python and the Holy Grail." Are there any other tv shows and movies like this that I haven't heard of?

Arnold J. Rimmer, the rules-following martinet, is an ISTJ.

Have you ever seen "Yes, Minister"? That's an old favorite of mine about British Civil Service. Having worked for the federal government in the U.S. it's all too familiar to me.
Others that I enjoyed are all over the map, by coincidence really the sorts of shows you'd be able to catch here - The Prisoner, The Avengers, Fawlty Towers, Absolutely Fabulous (up to a point), Wallace and Gromit.

If you haven't already, you might check out a few clips of "A Bit Of Fry And Laurie." Like Monty Python, it has a lot of absurdity and quick dialogue, if you like that sort of thing. There are several good clips on YouTube.
Cheers!

Blackadder is a classic british comedy series (all apart from series 1). Highly recommended.
I also loved Spaced and Brass Eye.

The first two seasons of IT Crowd are pretty good...

You need to check out "Misfits", its pretty much a way better British version of Heroes (before the show sputtered and slowly died through seasons 2+). I highly recommend it.
Here's the Pilot Episode:
Misfits Season 1 Episode 1 Part 1 (To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 2 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.)
Misfits Season 1 Episode 1 Part 2 (To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 2 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.)

There are three new episodes of Red Dwarf released late last year. Doctor Who is a personal favourite. The 2008 series featured Cathrine Tate as the Doctor's assistant, and she is pretty funny.

Wish I could list more great scifi/comedy shows like Red Dwarf but I dont think there are any. God I wish that show was still on.
I have a few british comedy faves but your mileage may vary.
Spaced, Little Britain, 2 Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps, Man to Man with Dean Learner, The IT Crowd, Coupling, Worst Week of My Life, Moving Wallpaper.
If you like scifi I recommend Primeval, Blakes 7, Life on Mars, Dr.Who

I read that the guy who played Kryten said that they're going to film season 10 this year.

There's a new satirical series out called "Newswipe" (To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 2 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.), with a host called Charlie Brooker, which is just brilliant. Not sure where you'd get it abroad as BBC Iplayer is blocked outside the UK.
As for other comedy shows (as I get the impression comedy is what you're after), then you might look for Phoenix Nights, Bo' Selecta, Celebrity Juice or Shooting Stars.
They're all pretty obscure humour that I would be interested to see if foreigners find them funny. Phoenix Nights (To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 2 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.) is by Peter Kay, and is basically observational humour. It is very much like what a lot of northern towns are like in England.
Bo 'Selecta and Celebrity Juice (To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 2 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.) are character based shows kind of in the same vein of Ali G / Borat etc. But Leigh Francis (To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 2 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.), the guy whose shows they are, is hilareous. He's from Leeds (near me), and his ideas are so obscure and puerile that they're just hilareous. Like doing takes on celebrities Spitting Image style, but blatantly making up things about them that are clearly not true, but are just so obscure they're hilareous. Like Craig David being from "Morley just outside Leeds", and carrying a pet Kestrel named Kes around with him on his wrist. "Come on Kes, can I get a re-eee-wind?" (To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 2 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.). He does loads of other characters too. MJ! (To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 2 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.) Haha! :D
Shooting Stars is a panel quiz show by Vic Reeves (To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 2 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.) and Bob Mortimer (To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 2 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.), with Mat Lucas from Little Britain. Its where Mat Lucas really started out. It's pretty obscure too, but brilliant. E.g. Lesbians... (To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 2 or greater. Two words: Posh Nosh.
I saw an episode one night when I couldn't sleep and I initially thought it was a serious show.
Spaced is amazing.
I'm also well into the IT Crowd and Black Books.
Speaking of the Office, Extras is pretty funny too, same guys different slant, lots of Hollywood types involved in that one.

I and a collegue watched Heartbeat (To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 2 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.) and Emmerdale (To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 2 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.) everytime we had lunch. It was the only thing on the tv around midday. It became some sort of tradition. "Lets see what's on TV" "Oh same thing as usual" "Heartbeat nanana na" It wasn't even good.
Other British series I actually like to watch is Midsomer Murders (To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 2 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.).

You must, must, must watch Green Wing. It is just so silly. So British.
Also, I highly recommend as a good dark comedy to pass the time: Psychoville.

Doctor Who has a tremendous back catalog. My personal favorite lead was Tom Baker, followed by Jon Pertwee and then David Tennant. Some of the episodes can be found on Youtube and the BBS sells a number of DVD.

I would second Jeeves and Wooster! Also, Black Books. The first episode of Black Books is one of the funniest things I've ever seen.
Some of the older mystery series are also good. I like Inspector Morse, Prime Suspect, An Unsuitable Job for a Woman, Sherlock Holmes (with Jeremy Brett), and Cracker (with Hagrid).

some of these have already been mentioned but I'll name the best shows imo.
The Mighty Boosh (I can't believe that no one mentioned this yet!)
Hustle
Black Books
Black Adder
Monty Python's Flying Circus (and the movies)
My Family (I really enjoyed the earlier seasons)
QI
Worst Week of My Life
Whose Line is it Anyway (Yes, the British version came before the American one and it still featured Colin Mochrie, Ryan Stiles, and Brad Sherwood as well as an array of great British comedians. If you like the American one you should check this out.)

I second the above - I can't believe I forgot The Mighty Boosh! Weird but brilliant. My favourite episodes are The Legend of Old Gregg and The Nightmare of Milky Joe.
Also Garth Merenghi's Darkplace.

QI is wonderful as I adore Stephen Fry's wit and intellect. Geek fest.
The IT Crowd (from the makers of Father Ted)
Come Dine With Me is hilarious (although inadvertantly)
The Gadget Show on Channel 5 is a geek fest.
For anyone who likes Doctor Who then try its spin-off show called Torchwood (note the anagram) is of interest.
(note the anagram)
Hotrod Cow? A sort of Speedy Gonzales with udders.

When I was in the UK I watched a BBC reality show called "World's Strictest Parents" where these misbehaving chav teens would be sent to families in places like Jamaica and Ghana to be disciplined.
Then they would go back to the UK and promise to straighten out. Usually the boys would get with the program pretty fast but the girls would get in these ridiculous confrontations.
This one girl who was sent to Jamaica had to write an essay about the country for the class she was taking at a local school there. So she writes about how she thinks the country is shit. The exams are handed in, and within minutes the headmistress of the school verbally tears her apart in her office. Then the mom has to pick her up from school and she gets yelled at some more, LOL.

Faulty Towers hasn't got a nod yet... so I'll say it...
I liked Extras . Ricky Gervais' homage to himself (or so it seemed :P)

The Legend of Old Gregg is definitely my favorite episode from season 2!
My three favorite episodes from season 3 would be The Strange Tale of the Crack Fox, The Power of the Crimp, and Eels.
And how could I forget one of the other best British comedies, The League of Gentlemen.

Couldn't agree more - you have to get some Boosh in your life - the scat man, jazz freak Howard Moon is an absolute legend. Another vote for The Legend of Old Gregg from me.
Other favourites - Spaced, IT Crowd, Peep Show, Alan Partridge

What about Little Brittain? It gets me rolling on the floor:laugh:
When I was a kid Allo Allo! was a huge hit. I still have all the episodes. Classic.
I`ve also watched Midsummer murder, but it always bothered me that there was a ridiculous amount of deaths before the killer got caught.
