How many hours and why?
I watch about 4-5 hours of TV a week. That's mainly because I generally always have work to do in school and there are only a few shows that I regularly watch now (Heroes, Smallville, Lost, House, & Friday Night Lights). I also think that TV is generally a waste of time and I like to do more productive things in my spare time.

Well ever since the writers strike I've only had Survivor and Boston Legal to watch.
I have a few shows on my weekly schedule but other than that I hate T.V. The only other time I watch it besides the couple of shows I watch regularly is during dinner and breakfast and only because my parents INSIST on watching the NBC news.
Ignoring the fact we're recovering from a writers strike here are the shows I watch regularly:
-Survivor
-Boston Legal
-Family Guy
-My Name is Earl
-The Office (<3<3<3)
-Desperate Housewives
Though I don't mind watching some Court TV now and then. I hate channels like Spike TV, MTV, and G4TV though. Mindless BS blech.

OK counted my shows so it's 4 1/2 hours a week if ALL of them are on (which is rare that at least ONE of them is not a rerun) and this doesn't include dinner or breakfast but I don't count those anyway I don't even pay attention to the TV when it's on I try to ignore it.
My family only eats at a counter we don't have a dining table even though we have plenty of room for one. My parents are too TV obssessed to go a meal without watching the tube at the same time. It's a wonder I've developed a book/video game preference over a TV/movie preference growing up. Maybe it's just early rebellion ;D

Generally 0 hours of TV. I do watch movies and enjoy them though, on my DVD player. Does that count?
Maybe 5-6 hrs a day but much of that is listening and not actively watching. I can't watch while eating a meal though. Even though it may be on I am usually reading something and ignoring the tv. The only series I watch regularly is In Therapy on HBO. I like movies and educational (Discovery/History/Nat Geo) tv as well.

I don't watch TV at all, haven't turned it on in two years, but I do watch movies on my portable DVD player.

Almost 0, watching tv generally bores me and I feel the need to do something, to be more active. It's not I despise watching TV, it's I need more active boredom killers.

Whether I watch TV depends if discovery has anything interesting on.
Commercials, reruns and the need to be there at the right time kill the conveniences.
Does watching news on TV count?

0.
I haven't owned a television in several years and even when I did I would rarely sit down for long periods and veg. I can do that inside my head. It frightens me now to think how much free time I would give up if I found myself watching television again.
If I have to have some mind candy, I'll watch Frontline or some other show online. Having said that, if CBS had embraced Creature Comforts and kept it on the air I would be a regular (online) viewer. Maybe they did me favor.

I will admit it, i have a slight addiction to tv. The good thing is, i watch primarily Discovery and History channel, and by primarily i mean about 95%. The other 5% i spend watching family guy.

That type of TV is elevated above trashy shows such as American Idol, Hogan Knows Best, or any other dumb reality show, although it is still below reading.

I watch television on the Internet ... don't have a TV.
The only way I let myself watch television on a television is if I go to the gym.
So, for as long as I can exercise, I can watch.
My best is 2 hours on the bike and as long as I want on the treadmill.
Just got in from 1.5 on bike and 1/2 on treadmill to watch Alyssa Milano in Mafiosa.
No "couch potato" guilt:thumbsup:

Zero. I don't have cable, but I have the internet. There are no stupid commercials and I can watch whatever I want whenever I want.

Watching something on your computer counts as TV. Not youtube videos, but if you watch a TV show on your computer that counts.

Well I watch a lot of Family Guy on my computer, and clips of Da Ali G show, but still no dice on this front.

when I`m home I like to watch the Simpsons, but lately they are only showing reruns in German TV.
Oh, and at thew moment I am not getting a newspaper, so I watch the news on TV.
All in all I`d say I watch an average of maybe 3-4 hours a week

Turned to the internet for news/movies/educational.
No more commercial breaks, considering that "Time is priceless"

I pretty much keep the TV on a good portion of the time I am surfing the internet. I usually keep it on the science channel, the discovery channel, or the history channel. When I actually stop using my laptop I usually switch to Family Guy if it is on. So total time of actually "watching" TV, I would say 10 hours.

Zero. I used to watch Jeopardy and the nightly news, but when I largely switched to online news sources (for the faster updates and more complete coverage), I stopped watching TV altogether.
When in a hotel room with cable, however, I become glued to the History Channel.

I am a 0 person. What's funny is that as a kid I'd regularly watch 5-7 hours a day. But then, we didn't have internet.

I think it was also so easy to watch 5-7 hours a day because cartoons were always on. Now if you go to watch tv in the middle of the day, what can you really watch? The news, jerry springer or some stupid soap opera.

I don't watch much TV. I tend to expend a lot of time in the computer, reading or analyzing.
Besides my kids get the TV, cartoon most of the days. I do however like to watch HGTV a lot. Kind of addictive actually and tend to use their ideas for decorating my apartment which is full of crystal... odd when I have a 3 year old around...
But in general, TV is a waste of time. I like to use my time wisely. If I'm stress, I may watch a movie, but I preferred instrumental relax music playing on the background and lot's of candle lights...
