I like to sing in private when no one's listening.

One of my musically inclined friends essentially told me I was terrible at it. Which I am. But now I never do it in public.

No, not at all. I'm pretty sure I can't carry a tune. I seem to have very little control over my voice and don't understand what I sound like.

With a lot of practice I would probably be good at it but no Im not and I don't like singing either, very rarely I spontanously sing on my own but you can't make out the words wich Im ''singing'' its more of a blur with some sort of rythm alternatively words with no rythm at all or a mix of the both.

I love singing, but I'm not good enough to be any kind of soloist. Not to mention I'm terrified of singing in public... lol

I love singing. As long as I have a tune in my head, I'll be humming away... unless of course people are around... Or well I'll whistle if i know my voice isn't up for the challenge ::)

If you want to released your singing in here, feel free. In here no one is gonna judge you; I know we got a J, in INTJ. It does not mean, we will hit you with heavy critisms, trust me. I will not do that to anyone in here, the posted songs I sung with others. I've been hit with alot of heavy critisms to no end. Your singing is off, mono-tone [no emotion], the background music/duet singer and yours did not match, your tone deaf. yeah, probably get the picture. However, it did not stop me because there was MW fans who don't mind me continuing.

*I know everyone says they suck at it, but give it a try. You never know, until you allow the public to here at INTJ world. Plus, have fun doing it. Incase, anyone is laughing its because we enjoy it and want some more of your singing.

I love to sing. I used to be in a choir, but I got kicked out once my voice changed (puberty).

I really did enjoy it with my whole heart, and still do, though now I got to keep it down down so noone hears my terrible voice. :-[

I'll listen to your songs and get back to you...

Thanx, I hoped you enjoy it; its in Chinese Mandarin / English. I wanted to practice my Chinese, while singing it. Later on, I will post up the list of my solo's and duets.

I'm not pro enough to want to post anything on the internet. If I actually cared enough to get better/actually learn how to sing then I would to get critism.

In the Youtube community, I can recognized that there are some iNTJ's singing in there. But, I'm planning to sing a Christmas Group song with other online people from another forum. I'm not sure, if anyone wanted to do a INTJ group singing, not sure anyone who is brave enough. Hey, I'm up for it. Incase, someone wanted to changed the words toward INTJ's liking, not a problem

I don't particularly like to sing, but I can carry a tune. When I was actively participating in church (about 8 years ago) I was in the choir, and even led a couple of songs - much to my chagrin. Since then, I keep my musical "talents" private.

I always sing along with the music i'm listening to. I am horrible singer, but that doesn't stop me. I will sing songs in when good friends or family is around. I have always been that way. I also learn the lyrics of a new song very quickly. I connect with the music better when i sing along.

I am not a great singer, same like you, however picking up the lyrics to the song takes alittle practice. Sometimes when i sing it, my pitch and the original singer matches up, kinda close to perfection-hmm, sounds like an iNTJ trait. Sometimes, i do sing along too, because my mind is frustrated with something, we all that emotions out of the system, and recharge again.

Eh. I don't especially enjoy it, as in, "Aw, man, I no longer possess the ability to wait for work to end! I plan on singing later!" but I have been raised by a musically talented family who informed me that I have a nice bass singing voice, and that I should train the thing. I am not so interested. I'll only sing after listening to lots of superly cool songs and getting really into them, but I never know any of the lyrics, so I always just sing numbers. ::)

I am not raised in a musical family. But, INTJ with an bass voice, still flat, but we do got that ability. It kinda bring out the positive sides of an INTJ. So be very proud of that, plus its rare and unique in your own way.

Wow. Mind_wander... when yo're a genius. well... duh. most in this forum are, but when you took maroon five slower it became so obvious that it should be played slower. the original is too quick. You cover is a much better pace. just bring it up 2 or 3 bpm. i used to be a really good singer. eventually puberty hit and... I can carry a tune, but my voice range goes from d to b... my falsetto is a to e so... my voice range has really died. i barely have an octave. i can sing caro mio ben though... It is probably the only song. i have to use my falsetto though and i kno i'm not suppposed when i sing opera... i'm bass. tenor if i use my falsetto. I HATE PUBERTY!
that was immature of me. i like many parts of puberty but others not so much.

well, this is what I did. The original duet singer, we didn't even plan to sing this song. He sent it to me, just a sample, then I turned that sample and make it sound much better. The duet singer (shanghai, china) has his own flow, so why should I ruined it. Ok, so where do I fit, well the chorus. Some people do like our- Maroon 5 duet singing. Its great that someone liked it, really enjoyed the experience. Plus, I did that within 30mins, and tried to send it back to him. Of course, he laughed and said, man I can really sing it better though. Dude, don't worry, if I can try to make it sound better. Then, its great already * BTW, he is an Extrovert.
I love to sing slow songs, because my voice does not project that well. I love my own pacing and still be you :) Could you upload a song for us Wolfie, any language.

We are called behind the scene singers, when someone is off key. Then, we add our voices in there, like sound dubbing in those foreign films.

I do like to sing, but not to others, even though I feel and have been told that I am fairly competent at it... I usually sing to myself, or to an idea or feeling, e.g. I may sing to a person when that person is not present, and I am alone, but it is still for that person, even if they are not there to hear it.

Ok, decided to embarass myself here, since you said it doesn't matter.

It takes a bit to get started.. and I sound silly warming up. Plus I sound like shit from being nervous, having a bit of a cold, smoking and guzzling coffee, and I had some obvious trouble with the low notes... so feel free to rip on it, but do it nicely, or something. :stunned:

I really like singing in private, but I'm not exactly sure how great my voice is. I'm 16, my mom sings, and she says I've got a nice tenor voice. I upload little covers and whatnot sometimes, and people say it's good, and those are the ones I hear later and frown like "I could've done better." Either they're lying to me, or I'm being too hard on myself. I'll post something on here sometime.

It could be a bit of both. Some (a lot) of people confuse being able to sing, with having a 'nice voice', which are two entirely different things.

And by the way... anyone know what software I for Ubuntu that I can use to mix two tracks? I tried the audio recorder in capture mode, but it always wants only the mic, and it's pissing me off.

How do you find out whether you can sing, or if you just have a nice voice? If a song is too high/low for my range, I can transcribe it in different keys and etc, but I'm not sure whether that's just nice voice.

Having good pitch, and being able to modulate the voice well is good singing, and is a practice, to control the vocal cords. It can also effect your range to some extent. e.g. you can go from one note to another, and carry the tune or melody, with accuracy. Your voice is just how your vocal cords, diaphragm, and air flow/capacity come together, these can be trained to some extent, but not everyone will sound "nice", e.g. you may sound "tinny", or nasal, or distorted/'gravel-ish', which has little to do with skill and is hard to change.

I totally argee on this, its not really easy because you must find the right song, which matches up your voice. As an INTJ, there are alot of mellow songs out there, so you can sing those will come out nicely. However, find another song, which does not match up with your voice, then your screwed, in most cases.

Yeah, just like Axl Rose, Kurt Cobain, etc, they don't sound very good, if you really pay attention, but they have certain technique and style which works with their music, and it is difficult for other people to emulate that uniqueness.

Also, singing is kind of like an instrument, in fact some singers in bands say their instrument is "voice". It takes practice, and most people who are popular singers have sung a lot, and trained for years to get where they are.

I sing in private. Usually when the music is playing and the volume is higher than usual. I think most people would agree that I can't sing. I hum a lot. Most of the time it's some annoying song from a musical.

Same thing here, this way no one can hear you sing. All they hear is the original singers, with some humming, in the background. I wonder who that might be?

I love to sing personally, and I think I'm quite good at it because I have a high range and I hit the pitches perfectly (and my voice doesn't sound that bad). I like to sing while doing homework, strangely enough. I haven't had the nerve to perform in public yet. I mainly appear as a flutist and a pianist in public and I'm not confident of my skills since I've never been professionally trained in vocal art. I've been told that my voice is pleasant, but I would think twice before sharing with everyone :D

I turn on the volume quite loud as well. I don't think anyone's heard because my mother often complained about the volume but when I told her that I sing, she looked completely surprised.

That's something I can't really do. :p
I'm not 100% confident with my pitch or projection, so I need a good monitor to really sing, as what comes out of your mouth sounds ENTIRELY different from what you hear in your own head.

This new years was the first time I ever sang at a party - and I have to say it's going under one of the best nights of my life up to this point.
