So let's hear it. What do you expect to hear during the State of the Union? How many of you have already decided what you'll think about it? What's going to be the "wild card" topic?
And furthermore. Any suggestions as to the State of the Union drinking game words list?
I actually don't know what to really expect. I think we'll hear about the economy for sure. I know from some sources in gay news he's going to address DADT. I think he's definitely going to try pushing this spending freeze.
As far as drinking game words. My money's on ECONOMY.

My money's on "jobs", "middle class", "banks", "change", corporations", "greedy" and "reform."
I also bet he'll mention that he has "saved or created" more jobs.

I support a spending freeze so far as it does not become an excuse to raise taxes.

Tonights words will be: Heath care, bipartison, debt, and economy
Wildcard: Anything from Haiti to Yemen?

I expect to hear a bunch of nothing, much like every other speach given by the this president.

I predict that he will shift between looking to the left and to the right every two seconds. A real risky prediction, this. A true wildcard.
The "Um" count is the real challenge, however.

Is it really that hard to ask for some level of maturity in this discussion? I mean seriously. At the very least articulate your dissatisfaction like adults.

I expect to hear about a freeze in spending on a portion of the budget that has been given such a huge increase in the past year, that it is already operating at a budget level that it would be at by the end of the freeze anyway under normal circumstances.
I expect to hear some talk of bi-partisenship which has no basis in reality over the past year.
I expect to hear discussion about jobs that I expect will be as useless as as the "saved or created" jobs we've been hearing about.
I do not expect to hear about the proposal to gut NASA's ability to do real space science and turn it into a climate change monitoring agancy.
As I said, I expect to hear a bunch of nothing.

I'd like to hear an apology to progressives :)
As far as drinking game words: Progressive!
(I think he may try some NLP voodoo to allay his base)

I'd predict the speech will be A) What he's done so far and B) What's next. So, the war in Afghanistan will definitely be there, with perhaps something about Yemen. The health care bill will be in the speech too. Then, the economy and the spending freeze, which he'll describe as both limited in scope and an effective measure to reduce the deficit. If there's a wildcard topic (very unlikely, IMO), it might be education.

I don't drink, but I plan to pull hard on my cigarette every time he makes a disparaging reference to "the previous eight years" or "the last decade."
update: watched some of it during lunch, but it was running a bit long. Didn't have to do much smoking, about which I'm happily disappointed.

Did anyone else cringe when he mentioned Waxman-Markey?
He was quite good talking about the need to contain the deficit, until he kicked himself in the ass with his "not this year, next year" business.
When he said earlier that big problems were not problems to be procrastinated, in reference to healthcare; one of his priniciple reasons for healthcare reform being the need to contain healthcare spending, which makes up a large proportion of our national expenditure, thus contributing to the national debt.

George F. Will saw some incongruencies in Obama's State of the Union as well (To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 2 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.)
And where did everyone go? We pregame it, and then leave a ghost town after the speech?
