I noticed in the gamers thread that quite a few people voted MMORPG and some mentioned World of Warcraft...

I'm curious what classes (and specs, since with some classes talents can completely change your role) you have played and which seems to suit your personality and style best, and why?

Well, I don't play any more. But.

Rogue for life!

I quit once the 2.3 patchnotes were finalized. I played for competitive Arena, and Blizz, despite making tens of million's a month on that game, have not done anything for PVP except destroy the tenuous balance 2.2 had. Every major patch was another massive PVE content upgrade, while the base arenas were still bugged to all hell and PVP was a massive grind based on the backs of PVP BGs from 1.6! That'd be like farming MC to get ready for Illidain.

Level 70 Warlock: 43/7/11. 1900 Rated with 19/0/42 Frost Mage (my younger brother, *severely* under geared, though I wasn't much better).

Stupid grind is stupid, and shit balance is shit. I quit and went back to EVE.

70 Fire Mage in a raiding guild that's starting SSC, and soon to be TK. I just mentioned on our guild forums that we should be killing Void Reaver as he's apparently labeled "Loot Reaver", any guild that can take down Gruul can take down Void Reaver.

Resto shaman. Finished T6 content 8 months ago got all the best gear, yep a top guild. After rading same crap for 6 months quit the game. They dropped the ball when the focused on arena and stopped providing PvE content.

I prefer to play my 70 holy/disc priest, although I also have a 61 affliction warlock as well as a 65 enhancement shaman that I have been leveling with my husband's fury warrior, only because he wants to get that character to 70 (his 5th) and I would rather him not quest without me because I will give up on that character and just continue playing my priest if his warrior gets too far ahead.

I use a holy/disc spec which includes Improved Divine Spirit, giving me more +heal according to my total spirit. Because of this, and a couple other talents which value spirit above all, I choose gear upgrades on mostly spirit to get the absolute most out of my spec. Spirit will add +heal as well as mana regen, so I will generally not take an item that has none. Many priests I've inspected use a similar spec, but don't seem to realize how to base their gear and play style accordingly, so they will value +heal above all. They can easily equal my healing that way, but my mana regen helps me to outlast them in boss fights.

Anyway, I haven't been able to raid or even do any 5-man runs since my son was born 2 months ago, so I log on occasionally to PvP and I'm building a fairly decent set of gear for that purpose, just because I hate not having goals and objectives. I do enjoy playing the shaman because the melee DPS role gives me such a different perspective of the game, but I don't feel like I'm an important part of a group as DPS... anyone can fill that spot in a group, a great healer is harder to come by so I'm afraid when I hit 70 I'll end up logging on my priest when a group I'm in can't find a healer, therefore my shaman will not get anything done.

That's a bummer. I'd like to see all the content, but not in a hurry for that reason. They just don't add new PvE content often enough. Do you think you'll want to log on and check things out when they release the Sunwell patch?

You get your socket bonuses! /clap

I always laugh when I see someone with all their gear socketed with the same gem... like tanks with all stam gems ignoring their +defense, +block bonuses... or priests with all +heal gems overlooking even +heal socket bonuses... lol

I think it's funny two folks in the thread have quit playing for the absolute opposite complaint.

I have a 70 demonology/affliction warlock currently sitting around waiting for the next expansion. I raided for a bit, but I didn't have the patience (ENTP!) to stick with it. I'd rather explore and see new things (ENTP!). I was the first in my guild to visit certain zones in both the original release and the expansion. If they somehow made an RPG that revolved entirely around exploring and visiting new places I'd be a happy camper.

Yes, I was amused by that as well. But "different strokes for different folks", as they say.

I quit for a few months last summer, because I was very involved with my guild after BC came out and I was Priest Class Leader when they started doing Kara and Gruul's, before the patch that nerfed the raid and heroic content we were struggling. Many of the priests who were active in BWL and AQ40 before BC weren't participating in the new raids, some weren't even 70 a month after the release. Consequently, I had to pick up the slack and raid atleast 5-6 nights a week, in addition to taking care of the priest forum, looking over applications and talking to recruits, and trying to farm for repair/potion funds. I was slacking off on my mom/wife duties and hardly sleeping or eating, then I discovered I was pregnant again.

I quit my guild and stopped playing at that point. I regret that I let myself get so deeply involved in a game, but lesson learned. I don't have trouble moderating myself now, and sometimes I even complain when my husband asks me to play my shaman so he can level his warrior... like now. :irked:

I had a lvl 13 Troll Hunter, I had tamed a boar named BoarZilla.

It was such a fucking boring repetitive game I didn't go beyond that stage.

LvL 62 Hunter/Skinner

I play around 2 to 4 days, 1 to 4 hours a week (used to play 4 to 8 hrs a day).

All I want to do is make money and see other places I've not yet seen, Very rarely duel because I am usually in the process of doing something important and I see it as an interruption.

Don't like going on raids, because there are too many people involved.

I don't mind helping someone do something THEY need to do, if threy ask.

My friend that introduced me to the game thinks I am psycho because I don't raids and multi player dungeons. I just don't enjoy the effort it takes to get it rolling... and STAY rolling.

I just hunt and every now and again get the Horde in a tizzy...

Beep boop... Demo Lock. Like 52 in Demo. To be different, I'm all about "pure builds".

My first character was a Priest. I still miss healing (did not to end game). But I'm afraid that if I go back to a Priest, I'll miss my pet too much.

Used to play a druid. I played resto from release to 1.8 (pre 1.8 there weren't really any specs other than resto, honestly). Then 1.8 to BC I was mostly feral, occasionally resto or moonkin. BC I was feral (1/46/14)

Also had a MM hunter (I finally gave in and speced BM for leveling because it's so much faster, but my heart always belongs to MM), but he wasn't 60 pre BC and I only got him to 68 before I quit.

My rogue was 42 when I quit I think. Even though it's slower, assassination daggers all the way. I love daggers specs, and can't stand playing swords (probably has a lot to do with playing feral, which is much closer to assass)

Warlock, always destruction. I never made it to 70 and I'm still wearing all my 60 epics  at 65. I find the game rather dull now and it'll probably be the first and last MMO I play.

Lets see, on my rogue:
Liked standard SF dagger pvp build best. Post expansion I liked mutilate the best.

On my priest:
I liked shadow the best pre BC, disc holy the best post BC

Druid:
Feral always! ;) Was tanky in BC. Tried for pew pew kitty gear but couldnt get into the character.

My Warrior:
Arms Fury, standard pvp MS build.

Rest of my chars were under 70 so not much input on them.

Those were the only 70s I had. I hated raiding and got tired of the same pvp over and over. I liked the game a lot and played all of the bgs till my eyes bled in vanilla. Then I played them a ton more in BC! After a while though, I realized I just dont like people enough to be competative in arena (not social enough to get a good team), and I flat out hate raiding so I didnt really have anything left to do. I quit about 6 months ago I think?

Have a 70 mage. He's been through T5 and about half way through T6, stopped raiding 25 mans because I don't enjoy all the time sitting around, listening to raid leaders bitch, and dealing with incompetence that comes with.

Mage is 0/40/21, which is the mage raiding spec unless you have 2 pieces of tier 5.

Here's the armory, he's currently in PVP gear. Unbuffed SD is 1200, crit is 31% for fire spells, and hit is capped.

Also have a 65 feral druid. I much prefer the druid. Its much more versatile and frankly is easier to play if I'm on the phone, drunk, or watching TV.

25 man raiding is, for me, a complete waste of time. In order to go anywhere, you have to play 25 hours per week on your main - minimum 15 hours for actual raiding, 5 hours sitting around waiting for people to stop AFK or to get raid together, another 5 (minimum) for farming for your flasks/pots/food/oils. And then if family comes in town or something and you can't raid for a few days, everyone bitches at you.

I'm currently just socially raiding ZA and KZ. Don't really need gear from there (a few moderate upgrades in ZA, but nothing major), and time commitment for this is 10-15 hours per week, which fits in the cracks of my life as opposed to feeling like my entire life as in the case of 25 mans.

Unsolicited advice: Get a belt of blasting. Its not upgraded until BT, and even there its a minor upgrade. I waited a long time on this because of no +stam or +int, and it was my biggest mistake once I started raiding.

Are the druids on different servers? If not, woudln't just doing a few dailies every time you want to respec a bit easier than leveling a toon 1-70?

It's hard to gear both specs on the same character. A lot of people don't understand that a druid really needs to have a healing set, even if they're feral, so if you're feral it's hard to convince people that you should get healing.

I have a:
69 Hunter (BM)
55 Warrior (Fury)
36 Mage (Fire)
26 Priest (Holy)

and that Alliance.

I mostly quest I do BG when I'm grinding honor or marks for gear. I haven't gotten to raiding yet but it seems very stressful everyone get SOOOO uptight. We will see. Also as you can see my attention span is short. I get bored with one Toon and switch to another. Or will stop playing for a couple months.

59 Rogue (assassination / sub)
39 Rogue (assassination)

I'm getting to the point where I don't want to go any higher with my rogue. I just want to mess around in battlegrounds for fun.

Post on your realm forum that you are looking for a "laid back, social guild". Me and a bunch of other people who were in T6 have gotten tired of the drama/SRS BIZNESS approach of most guilds, and just run KZ and ZA for fun.

The best WoW has to offer is when you are progressing through KZ with a group of fun people. ZA is also fun, but its very challenging as well so there tends to be more drama there.
